Orienteering race 1:02:02 [3] *** 7.3 km (8:30 / km)
spiked:12/16c

Too warm, too dry and too sunny for me. I'm at my best on a cold rainy night.

Note

I just noted something strange. I wrote that I made two minor mistakes in Jukola. I stopped short of my 21st post to check another post that was not mine. However, as it happened, it was my post after all - but in 1986!

Then I passed my 22nd post, not by much though, and had to turn back to pick it. Again, my post in 1986 happed to be only 50 m ahead, flagged again this year.

I.e., I almost had the same leg as 22 years ago, and my only mistakes in this year are clearly related to posts in 1986. Spooky!

Orienteering race 1:44:29 [3] *** 12.3 km (8:30 / km)
spiked:25/27c

After two miserable disappointments, I managed to run the second leg in Jukola as you should. A solid lcontrolled race without mistakes (well two times 15 sec is virtually no mistakes for me). I managed to control myself in the beginning, although the line of runners was moving painfullyu slow, and I almost had power left for the last km. Consequently I lifted 280 places from 620 to 340, being 217:th on the leg (and beating BorisGr with 10 min). In current shape I could not have done any better.

The night was tricky with both very fast and very technical terrain, and changing tempo during the race was of vital importance. I had an easy ride with the pack for the first half, except for one own good routchoice, but during the second half there was not much help from the pack, although there were people everywhere. I was most satisfied with being able to take full control when the pack dissolved. It was so strange seeing the backs of some runners in the distance, leading in to your own post, just to find them desperately trying to relocate.

I managed to lift places during 10 out of the 12 km, but would have needed new legs for the finish...

Orienteering race 30:00 [5] *** 4.1 km (7:19 / km)
spiked:10/12c

Debut for my new "club" Innovation OK in the relay champs for ministries and central agencies. Running first leg and almost missed the start as I got stuck in the traffic jam. An old man needs to warm up properly. Race started insanely fast but cooled down eventually. i had the longest forking all the way but still managed to change in the lead. Ended sixth all in all; the Parliament won.
