Mystic River Park-o in a light drizzle. Forgot a punch card, punched the map. First ever punch punching!

1- Hadn't really grasped the scale, went to 12 first (15s)
2- went to the wrong side of the bush for 2 (10s)
4- coulda been more direct (10s)
6- rotated the world 90 degrees. in the wrong direction. (50s)
11 - coulda been more direct (15s)

total lost, 1:40
smart ben time: 21:56
but honestly, i have the cardio capacity of a hamster, and didn't have much more to give. probably could've made up over half of the time lost just by clipping distance, though.

Climbing (Gym) 2:00:00 [3]

boulderin' and boulderin'. bagged a pile of V2's, a handful of V3's, and even one V4. downclimbed almost everything too, until i tore a nasty flapper (google at your own risk) off of my pinky finger. then slacklining and idle banter. i think there's another 10 in the super-cave that i could lead.

Note

Here's Leg 19 from the 2011 S/M/L Long Blue. Note ken and jteutsch pick up 10 seconds on bigE by going wide.

Anybody have a cool leg (and a map image) in mind?

Note

In the spirit of my meanderings and ross thinking i can fly, I give you the NikeJet N225GV incident. I hope I'm not the only orienteer who relates.

Story goes landing gear gets stuck after takeoff, pilot jiggles the lever until it unsticks, circles for six hours burning fuel, lands, changes shorts.

Note

NEOC Norwottuck 2011, Leg 5. I was super curious about what other people did for this one, even while I was doing it. Funny how well you can remember individual legs and micro-route choices from six months ago. The leg's a hair over 1km straightline, but you'd never know. Next thing to add, then, is a scale bar and route distances. And I still gotta find a pauseable .swf maker/player. Or smaller MP4's that don't look like sub-refrigerator-quality kindergarten 'art'.

Note

Heh heh heh. Now this is a competitive route choice. NEOC Norwottuck 2011 Leg 7.

IIs anyone else looking at this getting the jerky playback on the first loading? Gotta figure out how to get rid of that.

Note

I'm too lazy to figure out how to embed an MP4, but here's something fun. I grabbed the splits and .gpx files of anyone kind enough to log the recent NEOC meet at Prospect Hill (iansmith, alic, acjopse and yours truly), pureed them, and animated 'em up on a per-split free-for-all type basis. oughta be easy to reproduce for any attackpoint race, given a good scan/ocad .png of the map. just need to find an encoding process that doesn't do horrible things to the colors.

everyone's big pause at the beginning is for water (with a bonus shoe tie for me). the short pause at the end for me is decking and trying to collect a brick sample with my face.

ps. it's real rainy in rainforests. like for real rainy. good for reading. bad for adventuring. also, they don't let you hike volcanoes that are erupting. jerks. it's just smoke-and-ash eruption, not even any magma. pansies.

Note

Added brendan. Gotta figure out a better way to deal with tracks on top of each other - fortunately he was way faster. Also, wanted to test embedding:
