Orienteering race 38:16 [4] 5.83 km (6:34 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra's

Went out just behind Will and a bit further behind Harri. Thought I was maybe catching Will up the hill to #1 but then he disappeared in the green stuff. Missed #2 too high and had to turn back round into it losing a minute at which point I knew hopes of seeing Will again had gone. Fine round the loop to #6 but I think I maybe have lost a minute or more just by not being able to run over the damn rocks. I literally felt fine physically going round but I was just unable to raise the intensity without worrying about doing my ankle in. Hesitant to #7 as I wasn't 100% sure where i was but I'd stopped short. #8 was stupid. I came out of #7 slightly too far right but I'd kinda realised and corrected a bit but then I wasn't sure if I was on the right line into it and then the clearly obvious change in vegetation before the control just threw me off completely and I stopped and tried to work out where I was on a slope with no features. Ended up running about a bit and found the boulder to the right which really wasn't as big as the map showed, and found #8 having lost 2 minutes I reckon. Missed #13 a fair bit right, maybe 30 seconds. Fine to the finish. Again similar to yesterday in that the rocks slowed me down a lot and a then made too many mistakes for the speed I was running at. Just can't seem to get it right at the moment in the forest.

Running warm up/down 12:36 [2] 2.4 km (5:15 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra's

Jog to the start. Feeling tired.

Orienteering race 1:08:14 [4] 10.0 km (6:49 / km)
shoes: VJ Supra's

Banana into #1 losing 30 seconds despite hitting it cleanly. Saw Tam at #2 which was a welcome surprise. Clean on #3, #4 and #5 and just nipped infront of Tam here. Didn't see the path route round to the south on #6 so tried going straighter before dropping down to the path later losing some time despite going very hard down the path trying to keep with Tam. Went back ahead up the hill to #7. Quite hesitant on #8 not really sure exactly where I was and did a little banana to the right. Fine on #9. Huge banana to #10 after exiting #9 in a poor direction and never really recovered and ended up overshooting as well, losing the lead to Tam and about a minute as well. Caught back up going to #12. #14 I picked the right route for the first half gaining time on Tam again but then in the second half of the leg I went straight instead of round the path to the left and lost a minute crawling up the hill. Lost more time on #15 after being very unsure of where I was coming into the circle. More time gone on #16 after wiggling round the path and then all the way up to the ride for some stupid reason. Okay to the finish. I lost 3 minutes on Tam from midway to #14 to the finish and then more earlier on as well, meaning what was to start with a good run dropped off pretty badly. Just can't seem to get all the way round a course without losing concentration at some point. Also I think my running was probably slow as well due to the rocky ground which I just can't run over for fear of snapping my ankles in two.

Note
(rest day)

Feeling pretty tired all day probably from the early get up to go back to Edi. Would have done the 2 mile race and then the session afterwards but my flatmates decided we were going for some drinks for the last time together tonight instead. Not too bad, need to rest up for the weekend anyway.

Strength and conditioning race 15:00 [1]

Garage circuits. Ermm.. Interesting playlist tonight...

Running race 29:15 [5] 7.8 km (3:45 / km)
shoes: New Balance trainers

Went down to Harriers and was surprised to find out it was the Club 5 tonight. Paid my £3 and got to race, yay! Beaten into 2nd by Clark Hind by nearly 30 seconds who I'm fairly sure I'm normally faster than? I beat him at the Parkrun on Saturday by exactly 2 minutes?! Time was also only 6 seconds quicker than last year as well hmm... Dunno what it was then but I should have been a lot quicker, maybe feeling Sunday more than I thought? Odd result really. Also maybe the garage circuits didn't help. In fact they definitely didn't.
