Running 32:44 [3] 6.45 km (5:04 / km)
shoes: New Balance trainers

Easy round the meadows with Raptor. Loosened off nicely towards the end.

Running warm up/down 11:03 [3] 2.63 km (4:12 / km)

To and from the gym. Pretty quick on the way out so I could improve the segment time I made from Sciennes to the gym.

Strength and conditioning 1:00:00 [1]

Squatted 40, 50, 55.

Running warm up/down 12:07 [2] 2.28 km (5:19 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212s

Up.

Orienteering race 1:57:54 [3] 21.21 km (5:34 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212s

Ran M21 for some stupid reason. 17.6km straight line. Running wise ok until 17 and then proceeded to die through until about 22 where I got a bit of a second wind and felt a bit better although still pretty tired. Technically, made a mistake at 9 which to be honest I felt was hard to avoid as it was a thicket in the middle of a whole clump of thickets that were impossible to read on the 15 map. Missed 17 pretty bad. It was in a felled area supposedly in a clump of trees but the map again didn't really seem to match anything and sort of stumbled over it. Missed 18 as it was on a dead tree in the surrounded by other dead trees. Maybe could have taken a bearing but there wasn't really a definite feature to go off. Struggling at this point physically. Pretty clean then through to 29 where I swear I found a pit next to a dead tree but no flag. Forest Demon found the same one and both of us could swear it should have been in it. I think I must have spent a minute just stood there staring at it just through exhaustion. Also got a bit of cramp in my hamstrings which i've never had before due to running. Fine on the last 2 to the finish although Beth beat me on all 3 splits. Overall fairly pleased that I was able to make it round and survive but could definitely improve fitness when it gets a bit rough as I lost an awful lot of time in there. Also didn't take food, probably/definitely should have done. Looking at the splits a huge positive that I was running really well until 17 at which point the terrain got rough and I lost it mentally and physically. Ah well.

Up.

Orienteering race 1:27:04 [3] 12.4 km (7:01 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212s

Well this went well.. Started off badly when I failed to turn my headtorch on until after I started. Had some issues getting it on so had to take it off my head to do it. Proceded to spend a minute sorting it out. Went past Nathan at 2 after he'd spent ten minutes finding it so I thought I was ok. Went ok until the map exchange where I spent a minute trying to find it. There were some non-reflective tapes leading to it that I just didn't see. Was quite badly set out to be honest. Bad compass to 15 lost me more time. And then my headtorch died at 17. Lost time getting my spare out which wasn't the best torch ever. After this lost all concentration and lost an incredible amount of time over many controls that I can't be bothered to discuss all of. Met up with Nathan again later on who was not having fun and ran with him for the rest. Had some nice chat and helped each other out for a few of the controls which we were still messing up despite being together. Anyway took the least deserved 3rd place medal won by anyone ever having been 24 minutes behind Hakon who won. However I don't have the same morality as Beth so I was quite happy to get on the podium for it. Only my second individual British/JK medal ever.

Running warm up/down 12:30 [2] 2.7 km (4:38 / km)
shoes: Asics trainers

Strength and conditioning 45:00 [1]

Much easier session. A lot of focus on posture and mobility. Found out I have very tight shoulders which could potentially be the root cause of my Chickenitis...

Running warm up/down 9:05 [2] 1.61 km (5:39 / km)
shoes: New Balance trainers

Up down to the start.

Orienteering 10:57 [4] 2.19 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: New Balance trainers

Mass started a sprint with Dan, Tim and Callum around central Edinburgh from a training exercise a while ago that no one did as it wasn't printed on the map. Got dropped very early on as I was hesitant to the first but then ran my own 'race' and was the only one to actually go to the right place for 5 so a minor victory I think. Felt in control pretty well just I was running no where near as fast as the others.

Running warm up/down 3:22 [2] 0.61 km (5:31 / km)
shoes: New Balance trainers

Back to the start of the corridor.

Orienteering 16:23 [3] 3.15 km (5:12 / km)
shoes: New Balance trainers

Sprint corridor in and around the mile. Did it in reverse as we had done it before but a while ago. Really enjoy this exercise and think I was a lot better than last time just by staying in contact with the map a lot more and losing out on a bit of pace.(Had a look, last time we did it was the 14th Jan and I took 19.40. Little bit better this time I think plus last time it was net downhill). Was fun :)

Running warm up/down 7:14 [2] 1.31 km (5:31 / km)
shoes: New Balance trainers

Down up to my flat.

Running tempo 56:00 [4] 13.0 km (4:18 / km)
shoes: Asics trainers

CHIMP (Cosmo Hunger Inducing Meadows Progression). Slowly getting faster every km around the small meadows lap. Kilometer times: 5.03, 4.54, 41, 34, 27, 19, 16, 11, 03, 02, 3.48, 53, 49. The third last effort I misjudged the pace and as a result went too fast meaning I couldn't progress any faster. Absolutely dead at the end. And hungry.

Running warm up/down 11:40 [2] 2.13 km (5:29 / km)
shoes: Asics trainers

Down around another lap of the meadows. Just can't get enough of it.

Note
(rest day)

Complete rest day. Legs still a bit sore just walking to KB and with two pretty big/hard/long races at the weekend, an easier week is fine. Maybe. I don't really know what I'm talking about tbh.
