Tonight was our 3rd pandemic Rosh Hashanah with 'Bent's family. The weather didn't cooperate and the canopy didn't keep us completely dry but at least there wasn't *too* much thunder. The dogs were unimpressed. Dinner was lovely. Shana Tova!

Mountain Biking (Trail) 1:41:08 [3] 30.04 km (17.8 kph) +116m

'Bent and I rode the Georgian Trail from Thornbury to Meaford and got takeout lunch from McGinty's Cafe. Nice destination ride but the kitchen had already closed so our options were limited. We'll aim for noon next time.

It's supposed to rain tomorrow and the clouds were showing off.

Trekking (Trail) 40:00 [1] 3.2 km (12:30 / km)

Dog walk with 'Bent in Kolapore. These days, this is a long one for BazingaDog and he did well.

Autumn has arrived and there's a frost warning already!

Another sign of autumn: A friend told me that all their kids got Covid in September at three different schools, including the kid who lives at university. :(

Mountain Biking (Single Track) 56:17 [3] 13.7 km (14.6 kph) +173m

After wasting most of the day waiting for a tradesman who postponed and then never showed up, I texted the company at 4:15 and said, "I can't wait any longer and I won't be home for the rest of the day. Please tell your technicians because I value other people's time." Tomorrow I will find a new company.

Then I went for a pleasant, warm ride around the Palgrave single track. I met a few other riders on narrow trails, including a near-collision on a blind corner. Based on the guy's facial expression, I think we were both trying to improve our Strava segment times in opposite directions, haha. I also ran into Kendra and had a nice chat.

Orienteering (Trail and Off-Trail) 37:10 [2] 3.86 km (9:38 / km) +105m 8:29 / km
shoes: Salomon SpikeCross - 2nd pair

Bonus orienteering! I'd mentioned to the TOC organizers that if they still needed some controls picked up after their volunteers went home yesterday, I'd be happy to do it. They wrote last night to say that #21 was still in the woods so AdventureDog and I went on a special mission to retrieve it.

Coming from the south, this involved a rolling Bruce Trail run followed by 400-500 m on a relatively flat overgrown old ride that collected fallen trees and branches. But when I reached the control site, it was a nice, open, shallow re-entrant.

During the race, I had to approach it from the north side, which was both trickier and more infested with burrs.

Mission accomplished. Just to mess with me, Eugene had written 22 on the orange tape that was hung at 21 - but I didn't fall for it. ;)
