Running (Trail) 38:03 [3] 5.27 km (7:13 / km) +90m 6:39 / km
shoes: Salomon Ultra Glide - Purple

Trail run around Palgrave West before it got too warm. It was nice although my right heel has been painful for the past 6 weeks. It felt better after I'd run a few kms. I need to get back to doing my physio exercises regularly. No one else was in the forest so I enjoyed the hermit thrush concert on my own.

Mountain Biking (Single Track) 45:48 [3] 10.0 km (13.1 kph) +121m

Easy ride around the Palgrave single track after it had warmed up. A handful of other people were out but it was surprisingly quiet for a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

Note

Busy 24 hours from yesterday afternoon to this afternoon as I went up north to manage registration and last-minute updates for Bob's Summit 700 trail race at Blue Mountain. I only got a few hours of sleep but things went pretty well. It was great to see friends although only for a few minutes in most cases, including Goose and Coach LD, Funderstorm and Stefania, Hansel and Isaac, Cait F, Audrey, Timato, Kristen and Aubrey.

On my way back to the chalet, I was run off the road by a horrible driver passing another vehicle on the way downhill from Castle Glen. It's more terrifying in hindsight since there wasn't time to be scared when it happened. He was coming at me head-on at 100+ kph and at first, we both veered toward my shoulder and I briefly wondered if he was suicidal. Luckily, as I pulled off the road, he turned back into my lane and finished passing the other vehicle just after he passed me. Jerk.

Mrs. Gally was on the deck at the chalet waiting for Mr. Gally and STORM to return from a trail run as part of their WT team training session. She'd already biked and run for 4+ hours. The boys returned while we were chatting.

Then tonight 'Bent and I watched today's Tour stage projected outdoors with Veinbuster - a fun way to spend an evening!

Mountain Biking (Trail) 43:53 [3] 10.11 km (13.8 kph) +133m

A short Tour de Palgrave to procrastinate a little before starting my To Do list. I rode at a decent pace, getting 6th on a Strava segment, which almost never happens in a summer sport.

I'm getting ready to manage registration for the Summit 700 trail race at Blue Mountain tomorrow and Saturday. There's a computer app to learn and we're already starting to hear about the special cases and last-minute requests. It should be fun!

Note

I spent today waiting for time windows when service people might appear.

First up - although after their time window - our new refrigerator was delivered. The old fridge lasted 12 years, as did the one before. I confirmed this with an Attackpoint search so to make this entry more helpful in future searches: refrigerator fridge refrigerator. That oughta do it!

One of the two deliverymen dodged several polite requests to wear a mask into our house. (Gah, I hate being the Covid police. It means I don't spend much money on companies that would need to come into our home.) This guy's solution was to stay outside, which increased the challenge of moving a 260 lb fridge to our kitchen. I helped the one masked guy. Such a weird world . There's a long dent in the fridge door (not from today) so I'll get to wait through another time window next week. Regardless, it has a nice feature where it keeps food cold, which is a welcome change.

Later, Steven the smart technician updated our home security system. So it was a productive day but my most strenuous activities were vacuuming and running up and down stairs.

Paddling (Canoe) 1:16:41 [2] 7.57 km (5.9 kph)

'Bent, AdventureDog and I paddled from Peasemarsh Beach to Thornbury Harbour so our canoe could visit the big boats. It was cloudy and the water was as smooth as glass.

Note

After hiking a flagged route with our neighbours since it mostly travels on their property, 'Bent and I did a good first pass on a new forest trail connector from our property to the trail we built with our neighbours this weekend.
