Winning a marathon isn't always as much fun as you might think.

We met Browner and Storm at Scotsdale Farm to run in Silver Creek Conservation Area. Browner and I started with Scout while 'Bent and Storm took Contour and AdventureDog. When we met them halfway through our run, Scout wanted to join the other dogs so we continued with just humans in our group. Nice chatty run!

It was chilly and beautiful in the woods with a thin layer of snow that made these technical trails even more technical. It's time to start wearing spikes. My heel started out stiff and a little sore but it didn't seem that running affected it; it feels fine a few hours later. Time to start adding more runs during the week. The UTMB CCC lottery opens this week. :)

Today Dr. Thumbs-of-Death spent more than 10 minutes inflicting severe pain on my foot and calf after 15 minutes of electrotherapy. Then he casually yanked hard on my foot and it felt like something snapped between the top of my foot and my leg - in a good way. I'm probably an inch taller on that side now. ;) He said that's a positive sign *and* he said if I put in some running mileage over the weekend, next week's appointment will likely be my last one for this injury. Happy!

TRX Boot Camp with Kristy - I'm really enjoying these classes. Most of the regulars have a good sense of humour and the instructor makes us work but shares in the laughs.

As a female engineer, the École Polytechnique mass shooting hit painfully close to home. I used to get chills from vivid mental images of a misogynist gunman barging through our classroom door, even though I was no longer in school. The country and their families lost 14 talented young women on December 6, 1989, and the survivors have to live with that horror for the rest of their lives.

Sadly, on the 28th anniversary of the Montreal Massacre, misogynist acts are in the news multiple times a day - and the newsworthy items are just the tip of the iceberg. In spite of that, there has been major progress so let's keep moving our culture in the right direction.

Foothab - Although I had right heel pain and stiffness yesterday afternoon and this morning after running two days this weekend, it felt totally fine within 24 hrs. Progress, maybe?

I celebrated by going to Albion Orchards for a Christmas tree. Ho ho ho!
