Running 1:31:00 [2] 10.3 km (8:50 / km) +250m 7:53 / km
shoes: Roclite 275s

St Martha's-Gunpowder-Blackheath-Lockner-StM
Ran with weighted race vest in Roclite's that I thought would give better cushioning on dried out paths. Ended up walking after 45mins as ground was too hard and shuffled a bit towards end. Roclites need to binned as cushioing is knackered and tongue is so badly cut too, worried it could reinjure talus missing cartilage. Think Mudclaws, though less protective will be best for OMM-Lite. Concerned by how much water to carry and RC's to refill in what looks to be a sunny w/e ahead. Better to have found out in advance!

Orienteering 45:30 [4] 5.5 km (8:16 / km) +90m 7:39 / km
shoes: X-Talon 200

Hogmoor SN Handicap - 4.6k 90m (same as Green earlier in day)
Had a generous handicap, or so it seemed.
Had a really start and was just behind Alan at 4. Couldn't find overgrown path to 5, took suboptimal route to 6 (best to cut through marsh even at walking pace). By 8 I caught the remaining 25s on Alan that I'd had at 4, but those I'd caught were stronger runners and the pack of Iain Bell, Dave C & John had caught me. So it was me, 4 who could run quicker, plus Alan. Was in oxygen debt by now and either followed or did my own thing, only to find everyone else benefitted from my nav. Took a different route to 17 to shake people off and we all met at 17! Had 3 attempts to EMIT punch at next to last and was 4th of 4 going to last. Iain strayed and I took inside bend to elbow him out to finish 3rd, and not much more down on 1st than delayed punch.
Despite 50 years of O, I've not been in a 2k chaotic pack race at the end of a relay. Did my best, but almost impossible for me to have got away from everyone, particularly as legs lacked 30s per k of tiredness from Sunday.
