Orienteering 50:40 [3] 5.25 km (9:39 / km) +115m 8:42 / km
ahr:134 max:141 shoes: X-Talon 200

Oldbury Hill - Green Course 4.6k 115m
Took it slowly and legs responded up to a point. HR not surprisingly 8 below normal. Sped up slightly towards end in runnable intricate western end.
1. 30s - Dropped to road thinking I needed to cross it- eyesight.
2. 1.45s - Only 60s down on best split yet ran extra 250m. Never saw minor path off main path.
3. 30s - Not sure map & control were in right place. Not the only one.
5 or 6. 10s - too far S.
11. 60s - Didn't see 2nd path on map and was in wrong block- eyesight.
12. 15s - cut in too far S, but still comfortably fastest split.
Time to investigate contact lenses!

Warm Up 5:00 [2]

Odd that L knee ligaments were complaining slightly. Kept stretching to absolute minimum to avoid accidental tear.

slept:9.5 weight:72.6lbs

Really good sleep at long last. Averaged around 5 hrs sleep for previous 7 nights. Although DOMS has been much less than normal, not much has changed in 4 days. Appear to have lost around 0.8kgs despite forcing food down, which pretty much matches my calculations. About same weight as previous two Mays.

Note

Legs far better than any recent Spring multi-day event, suggesting JK, recent Short Browns & St Martha's training has helped. Day 1 was noticeably better than 2021 & 2022 events. Happy with Day 3's walking pace. Didn't fall over during the 3 days, slipped once onto bum and on all fours twice- quite an achievement with slippery ground & unexpected eyesight issue.
Poor descending legs an issue after first day.
Happy I made sound decisions on Day 2. Take away is: In bad weather each individual has to find their optimum clothing and react quickly despite risk weather might improve very soon.
Had mild stomach cramp on all 3 days. Perhaps 120g of muesli around 0.5 to 1.5 hours beforehand didn't help. But that's 4 days on the trot now.
Need to investigate contact lenses.

Orienteering 4:32:00 [2] 22.1 km (12:18 / km) +590m 10:51 / km
slept:5.5 shoes: X-Talon 200

SGL3D - Day 3 - Cafe course, plus Holme Fell and a few extra control. 95% fast walking.
Legs were good on flat and passable uphill, but useless again descending off Holme Fell.
Warm and the sun came out at the end- such a contrast to y'day.
