Swimming 18:00 [3] 0.6 km (30:00 / km)

South Milton - forgot wetsuit and the sea was the roughest I've swum in and there was a noticeable sideways current. Got dumped on the shingle beach and had my first experience of extracting gravel from my ears!

Holiday is fast becoming a swimming Boot Camp.

Swimming 20:00 [3] 0.6 km (33:20 / km)

Hope Cove - epic swim between the coves plus time getting used to the conditions.

We visited west facing South Milton and thanks to Hurricane Bertha we were sand blasted, you needed goggles to see on land! Moved onto Hope Cove that is more protected, but still had waves full of fine shingle crashing over the road at high tide (spring tide plus Bertha). However, with a rising tide and my sisters-in-laws local knowledge it was safe swimming in an elliptical arc and great fun swimming the 400m between the coves. Decided it was wise to walk back rather than risk getting too tired doing the return swim - looked a lot more spectacular than the reality of doing it.

Worst bit was a very persistent foreigner who started asking lots of searching questions afterwards - I thought it best not to let on I'm not a strong swimmer, but I'd done my homework beforehand.

Swimming 25:00 [3] 0.9 km (27:47 / km)

Lido - various including 5 x 100 b/w 2.20 and 2.30. Bought yet another set of goggles (lost the others!) and can see fine with them.

Swimming 20:00 [2] 0.6 km (33:20 / km)

Lido - arrived late having falied to find my kids googles. Bought curved adults googles that gave me double vision, but still better none at all. Best thing about the evening lido sessions is the black humoured banter with the other struggling/aspiring swimmers in the none laned part of the pool.
