Running 54:00 [3] 7.4 km (7:18 / km) +260m 6:12 / km
ahr:131 max:151

To Chantries via Pewley - lots of tarmac as had no car. Walked sometimes on tarmac to reduce inpact on calf. Definitely can't hack paths & tarmac.

Adversane-Dial Post-Shoreham By Sea-Ashington
First swim ride in tri-shorts and they did the job. Last time the stitching cut through skin so was worried when wet they would be far worse. Maybe they're getting worn in.

Swimming 15:00 [2]

Spent 10 mins being dumped on the pebbles by breaking waves built by 25 av wind & 38 gusts. 5 mins of swimming against sideways current. Unnerved by strength of current just 20m out. 30 mins before high tide, so timed it well.

Body conditioning 1:30:00 [3]

Tree felling. £18 bowsaw & awkward 40cm hardwood tree was touch and go- some was level 5.

Friday Jul 24, 2020 #

Note

Training hard is the easy bit, compared to long recovery of DOMS/general tiredness & possibly more chance of injury. Should consider doing less and more often.

Running hills 55:00 [3] 6.4 km (8:36 / km) +370m 6:40 / km
ahr:132 max:146

Chantries - zigzagging hills. Had to double back sometimes and some old animal tracks had disappeared but found some new ones.
Took it slower and with light steps. Calf lasted 10 mins more than last week. Was painful driving back & iced.

Soc Mod Shillinglee to Jungle Tea Rooms - first group ride since March & club's too.
Great to catch up. Stayed in unplanned bubble. Tired legs held until last 5 miles.
Been ages since being able to run & cycling at same time.

Cycling warm up/down 10:00 [2] 2.4 mi (4:10 / mi) +30m 4:01 / mi
shoes: TCR

Waiting for group to arrive.

ahr:131 max:144

St Martha's Hill - Climbing from SE 90m, N 50m & S 110m.
Moving well. Calf was fine until last steep climb from the S.
Dog struggled to keep up- needs clipping.

Monday Jul 13, 2020 #

Note

8 hrs later, nerve in calf aggravated but doesn't interfere with walking

Sunday Jul 12, 2020 #

Note

Slept for 10 hours & still felt tired, hence easier weekend sessions
5 PM

Cycling 1:05:00 [3] 19.7 mi (3:18 / mi) +170m 3:13 / mi

Ash-loop to Normandy - faster than planned and suffered for it on plod/walk.
6 PM

Running 21:50 [3] 3.2 km (6:49 / km) +80m 6:04 / km
ahr:131 max:146

Legs seized up after ride. First run for 26 days- precautionary rest of calf which was fine. V slow, but worth 3 for effort!

Loxwood- Haven-Dial Post-SbyS-back
Good ride/swim. Sunny with a festive mood on the way down. Wind was tolerable until 100m from the sea where it was 43mph (SW) and even walking wasn't easy. Tired on the way back, from the "swim" as much as the ride. Lost some muscle off legs.
4 PM

Swimming 20:00 [2]

Sea swim at SbyS. 43 mph SW wind and current made it was difficult to stand. Body surfing and strong walking rather than swim, and tiring too. Didn't risk chaffing from tri-shorts, though off-white running shorts with a towel 10m from the water worked fine until 5 young teenaged girls coverged b/w me and the towel-. They moved on before I froze!

Cycling 1:10:30 [3] 20.5 mi (3:26 / mi) +230m 3:19 / mi

Cobham-Horsley Loop
First ride for 18 days - better than expected, glad it was flat.
Tested new triathlon shorts, chamois fine, usual seam rub though. Why do cycling shorts have seams in the centre of the inside of leg where they will rub on the saddle, anywhere else would be OK.
