Cycling 2:10:30 [3] 33.0 mi (3:57 / mi) +620m 3:44 / mi
ahr:128 max:146 shoes: TCR

Seale-Thursley-Witley-Bramley Took C out on a scenic loop. Bitting wind (underdressed), nearly lost front wheel in North Street. No lunch and HR dipped towards end, signalling minor bonk.

Cycling 1:31:00 [3] 25.9 mi (3:31 / mi) +430m 3:20 / mi
ahr:138 max:162 shoes: Propel

Holmbury-Cranleigh circuit. Started easy, efforts Holmbury to Forest Green & at end. , otherwise cruising with C in tow. Great sunset for 15 mins on west sloping ground.

Cycling race 9:08 [5] 2.9 mi (3:09 / mi) +70m 2:56 / mi
ahr:159 max:166

March Segment - Hambledon-Munstead "10 Licks of the Stick" Flat out, 23s improvement on tired legged recce.

Cycling 1:01:00 [3] 16.6 mi (3:40 / mi) +240m 3:31 / mi
ahr:138 max:166 shoes: Propel

To Hambledon for second full on March segment attempt with C.
High Street clock struck 6, not a parked car in sight, reminding me of first line of the novel 1984, "the clock struck thirteen."

Cycling 1:13:00 [3] 23.6 mi (3:06 / mi) +240m 3:00 / mi
ahr:143 max:156 shoes: Giant A1

Loxwood to Ashington - dusted off TT bike.
Was heading for a healthy negative split until the wind appeared to change directions. Met Office agrees too. Otherwise a surprisingly comfortable 1st TT ride. Definitely need an easier low gear for training than a 39/23.

Cycling 1:18:00 [3] 21.5 mi (3:38 / mi) +240m 3:30 / mi
ahr:135 max:148 shoes: TCR

Chilled ride with C out to Cobham. Saw more people exercising than cars, despite this, two drivers nearly wiped themselves out in a minute and nothing to do with us. Stopped for a Russian cyclist whose CO2 had just failed and had no pump- some things don't change, mini pump did the job.

Cycling 57:45 [3] 14.3 mi (4:02 / mi) +390m 3:43 / mi
ahr:142 max:159 shoes: Propel

Chilworth-Farley Heath Still have DOMS from Sunday's "run".
One 2k effort on A248. One bonus was the unexpected thoughtfulness of rush hour tdrivers. Front brake cable finally became so stretched, it was next to useless in the rain on wet roads.

Note

Saw chiropractor. He said it was first time in a decade my upper back and neck areas were fine, & I was doing something right- yeah! SI joint, especially LHS was locked which explains pain after cycling in L hip. Also sorted out lower back. Felt great walking afterwards. No wonder Sunday was so much of a stagger in the more challenging terrain.

Tuesday Mar 17, 2020 #

Note

Cycling legs battered from 7% climb training run/stagger on Sunday. No way ME would plan that for the BOC- silly boy!

11 AM

Cycling 26:45 [3] 7.4 mi (3:37 / mi) +130m 3:26 / mi
ahr:135 max:145 shoes: Propel

Warm up ride prior to O training. C's first ride with cleats and no embarrassing falls!
12 PM

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3] 4.0 km (15:00 / km) +265m 11:16 / km
ahr:131 max:150

Very steep, loads of holly and bogs. I blame my planning. Nearly trod on a sleeping fox. Took 2 mins to find & exctricate C's shoe from under 6 inches of bog.

Cycling hills 1:14:30 [3] 18.2 mi (4:06 / mi) +525m 3:45 / mi
ahr:140 max:163 shoes: Propel

Fartlek - Hard on the many hills/ramps and easier than normal between. Was meant to fit in a couple of TT efforts. Good short session.
Nearly turned back as overdressed. Later very glad I didn't, when a heavy 10 min windy shower appeared from a blue sky

8 PM

Cycling 31:00 [3] 8.2 mi (3:47 / mi) +130m 3:36 / mi
ahr:136 max:161 shoes: TCR

To Staples Lane & back over Newlands due to resurfacing.
9 PM

Running warm up/down 16:00 [2] 2.4 km (6:40 / km) +60m 5:56 / km
ahr:134 max:151

Stoke Park - shuttle runs with walks & stretching between. Got better towards the end. Ride beforehand helped to stretch hamstrings.

Sunday Mar 8, 2020 #

Note

Realised two bike set ups must be slightly different, and shows how a few millimetres makes a big difference to the balance between muscle groups, power and tiredness after a couple of hours.

Saturday Mar 7, 2020 #

Cycling 2:54:00 [3] 45.7 mi (3:48 / mi) +620m 3:39 / mi
ahr:133 max:155 shoes: TCR

Social Mod to Ashington with C. Tighter group today.
Groin/lower abdomen were fine, but legs were lifeless despite the flattish route. Stiff all over last few days.
Bike ultra clean with new cables & bottom bracket, plus all important rear mudguard, much to groups relief!

Tuesday Mar 3, 2020 #

Note

Managed to strain muscles in left lower groin hip area yesterday. Muscles seem fine now but pain in hip. Unable to sleep on that side.

Sunday Mar 1, 2020 #

Cycling intervals 9:31 [4] 2.9 mi (3:17 / mi) +70m 3:03 / mi
ahr:157 max:167 shoes: Propel

March Strava segment at just above threshold HR after group ride. More of a recce but harder work due to tired legs.

Cycling 3:03:00 [3] 50.0 mi (3:40 / mi) +900m 3:28 / mi
ahr:139 max:167 shoes: Propel

Mod ride to Milk Churn with C. Big group split into two. Met group up at Wonersh.
Left cafe 8mins behind and hitched onto Mod Plus then carried on at similar speed to Plaistow where group waited. Did March segment from Hambledon-Munstead at just above THHR. Both had tired legs at the end.
C ready for lyrca top, cleated shoes & pedals!
