Swimming 18:00 [3]

SSP - started relaxed and found I was catching the water after 5 mins. 5% faster than last week.

Aqua Running 6:00 [2]

Hamstring muscles felt as though they were on the limit, so kept it brief.

Orienteering 32:00 [2] 3.5 km (9:09 / km)

Long Valley North - Parts of the CSC final green mens course. More of a fartlek with long stops to read map. Quite dark and started taking controls out of order without meaning to. Which worked fine, as left achilles and the ligaments below and behind fibula became very sore after 2k. Think this relates to ligament damage after breaking ankle in 2009. Whole joint is loose. Might need taping or a change of shoes. Thighs felt great after pool running - must do this regularly.

Walking, jogging and a few stretches before and after. Eerily quiet and freezing mist started settling as I successfully relocated my car keys and top in the middle of nowhere. Always a relief when it's almost pitch black.

Ligament attachment behind base of fibula painful enough to only walk limping badly. Could feel it running yesterday and possibly mid-week.

Orienteering 44:17 [3] 4.3 km (10:18 / km) +55m 9:41 / km

White Downs MV - Apart from 9 the planning/course was better than expected.
1 - 2 mins lost after 200m path junctions and another minute at the control.
8 - I'd been tipped off, which rarely helps, tried being clever -45s.
9 - bad planning, map did not have distinct enough edges, did the leg twice -90s.
12 - bounced off 13, like everyone else, a path missing.
15 - felt left hamstring twinge/cramp and stopped immediately, think I might have got away it -30s.
Finish -20s pigeon steps to protect leg.
As last week, more concerned with getting round in one piece and not chasing ranking points, so 80% effort only, feeling a little fitter, but now have three areas where injury is threatening. Calf nerve not fully recovered from mid-week. 8 mins down on Ian, expected to be 5 with a decent run.

St Martha's with the dog. Her first proper training run and straight after she had been for a walk - happy dog. A mid-week training session, the first for over 3 years and squeezed into a busy day - happy days.

Orienteering 49:10 [3] 4.9 km (10:02 / km) +80m 9:17 / km

Long Valley North - SN Trophy Green (entered Sh Blue)
Positives: no injury and no real tightness. Technically poor and physically slower than expected. 2 came off corner of OBB rocky area instead of side -90s, 4 tried being clever to save a few secs and running to reentrant tried going above and did not see it and assumed I was wrong -75s, 8 distracted 15s, 9 long leg v hestitant maybe confidence had gone - 30s, 10 long pause 15s then ran to it, 13 nice leg went into wrong gully/reent yet it was obvious I would do so! -30s
Feel I ought to learn something from today. If anything it was how important it is to have "homing radio beacon" switched on. Too much hesitation rather than heading towards the control at "speed".

SSP(50) - 50s. Such a privilege to swim in this pool. Chilled swim after a stressful day.

Things are looking up. Went for a 45 min walk. Calf and hamstrings were merely sore. A month ago it would have taken 4 days to recover.

Orienteering 52:22 [3] 4.9 km (10:41 / km) +45m 10:13 / km

Esher Common - SN Club Champs Women's Course - jogged and did some walking. Steady and voiding some straighter routes for easier terrain.
6 - 2.45 never really saw a gully must have passed close to it. 9 - went to the small niche and did not see it, colour blind due to aging! (30s). Last kilometre and to slow and walk as hamstring was starting feel tight and tired. Finished in one piece, which was the aim. I really need to do a lot more non-ranking events and jog round.
