Orienteering 31:52 [4] 3.4 km (9:22 / km) +100m 8:10 / km
ahr:152 max:159

Army LVS Short Green - Wohoo good technically & HR was around TH throughout apart from a small lowering in tricky N area. 2 mins down on Colin who lost 30s to my 90s, and running at similar speed on same legs as blue leading runners. Glasses fine for MR & long range. Errors all in the circle, more attention still required.

Warm Up 10:00 [2]

Running 44:27 [3] 5.4 km (8:14 / km) +46m 7:54 / km
ahr:162 max:191

Penn Woods TVOC - Short Green 3.6k
Another poor techinical race. Legs died after only 17mins, so much so I wasn't bothered when walking through slow run.
1. 2.30, didn't see warnings in start lanes and couldn't make the unbrashed bits fit.
5. 0.45, drifted N, not taking enough care on bearing & angle to slope.
6. 2.45, mistook smaller path for main track in valley, not taking in enough information from map.
13. 1.45, saw post and assumed it was a path marker. A mistake made by everyone hitting main path from that side according to routegadget.
No soreness whatsoever during or day after. Muscles otherwise detrained but intact! HR far too high.

Running 21:30 [2] 3.0 km (7:10 / km) +55m 6:34 / km

To Shalford Meadows to collect car. Calf was fine and barely any soreness in next 24 hrs.

Note

OMM has been cancelled. Active (misnomer!) Scotland controlled from Holyrood overruled Sport Scotland and county council that had passed the revised arrangements. Gutting for organisers.

Very happy though it's rekindled a decades old desire to challenge self in the mountains again- only 41 years since last completion!

Running 38:00 [2] 4.0 km (9:30 / km) +150m 8:00 / km

Jog/walk from lower Chantries CP. Pulled calf but not in usual spot, so ignored warnings it was tight until too late.
OMM looks unlikely and risky at best.

Cycling 2:09:00 [3] 33.2 mi (3:53 / mi) +650m 3:40 / mi
ahr:129 max:157 shoes: TCR

SS to Punchbowl from Milford - group of 6 with C that naturally split into 2 x 3 for traffic. 3 wks off bike and took an hour to reawaken them. 28s off Hammer Lane PB! 2nd quickest on TT back to Milford into light headwind too. So CV is clearly benefitting from running. Excellent group ride- really glad we went.

Orienteering race 57:44 [4] 6.0 km (9:37 / km) +100m 8:53 / km
ahr:150 max:159

BAOC Minley Blue - Felt stiff but wore off within a few mins wu.
Moving faster than befoe holiday. No excuses today for a number of 1 & 1.5 min errors.
1. -15s not sure where I was approaching long reent at control.
2. - 1.15, heard this had been in wrong place and failed notice it was veg bound/rent.
4. -30s, less than 100m and close to a path, not being exact enough!
7. -30s went to cut corner and retried again, should have binned the 10s.instead.
9. -1.00, winged it on small paths didn't check compass when pulled off line then took time to realise on wrong track.
13. 10s hesitation but worth it.
17. -1.30 Just expected to hit something helpful when it was high ferns.
18. -1.30, appeared to be extra thicket by ditch not on map.
21. -1.15, tricky vague veg and went in unprepared.
23. -1.45, lost 30s picking up path and went to 17 first.
Almost 10 mins, just too inexact again and again. Possibly exasperated by sense of fitness. Back to basics to get a result that reflects new fitness level.
