Lakes Day No.5 Haven't really reviewed o courses, but going to start now in the hope I will learn something for next time (aside from having a shite run).
1, 2. both ok
3. started looking for control early, hadn't dropped down enough. The bearing was spot on but I doubted myself.
4, 5. Good nav
6. Map wasn't showing enough detail around here and so stopped early again, although the contour was right.
7. Dropped down too low after going over the top. Should have contoured around and picked up the fork in the paths.
8, 9. Good legs, but I hesitated when I got close to 9.
10. Was following the main path through the forest until I got a little closer then decided to go straight at it. Probably could have taken a better, more direct line.
11. Not too bad, but I should have gone staright at it instead of the long way round on the path.
12. I used the contours to get to this one, but it was messy.
13. Another messy one and hesitated about which path I was on.
14. Was ok, easy short leg.
15. Dog legged it for no apparent reason. Thought it would be easier. It wasn't
16. Just realised I cocked this one up. Went up over the hill instead of just dropping down onto the path. Also, the control was in a really awkward place. How dare they.
17, 18. Fine. Slow, but fine.
19. Line was terrible as I forgot about the wall.
20, 21. Both, fine. Could see 21 about 200m off so put my foot down. A rock looked at me funny so I took a dive at it and kneed it.
22. I'm sure it was in the wrong place. Lost too much height and had to climb back up.
Rest was just a run in following everyone elses trails.
