Fun outing, although in my opinion the area was rather overhyped in the details.
Lots of controls helped maintain interest, but didn't really provide any route choice, and by keeping us in the nice corridors the course had a bit of a processional feeling to it.
First 5c ok, stopped a little short for #6 at the ruin just before the pit, but only lost a few seconds. Aimed off to the south for #7 which worked well, but then overshot #8 (knoll) marginally, which was more of a rootstock.
#9 Might have been better to head south to the ride rather than cutting across the light green initially; alternatively might simply have been slow climbing the hill [20]
#12 Initially went to the northern thicket which was partially obscured by the line [10]
#13 Wobbled left of the line trying to pick out the mapped thickets [15]
#18 Went out to the small path which didn't really offer better running and meandered a lot [10]
#20 Fell over running downhill, then got a branch caught in my lace and had to stop to remove it [15]
Not too shabby navigationally overall. Physically calves aching a little from the exertions of yesterday.
Managed to top the standings, even sneaking ahead of the veteran elite - they must be better runners (as evidenced by beating me yesterday), suggesting that my orienteering was better today :)
