Meet 3 Race 3
Big Bone Lick Red 6.0 km

A warm and wonderful day on very fun courses by Stephanie and Ben. I particularly like the middle parts (4-14). One thing that made the day good was that I had some decent sections of flow and reading a bit ahead. I should have gone low on 3 and messed up going high for a big mistake; I couldn't count and knew I had overrun the ditch but circling back was like turning the Titanic. C13 was a parallel error; wrong spur and then almost saved myself with the permanent control site (notch) but didn't find it on first inspection, then ran searching only to come back and find the actual feature, making the rest of the leg simple. Decided to run around to C17 rather than hitting the ridge head-on but took a poor line; this was about 90s lost.

Still, this was my first taste of enjoyment for the year.

Meet 3 Race 4
Big Bone Lick Yellow 2.8 km

Took Aragorn to stretch his legs. It is this kind of course that I find my lack of running of late takes its toll. Some of the steeper climbs I walked. One moment of daftness cost a minute but that was it for lost time. It is not clear whether taking the path to control 9 using the trail rather than running down the grassy back of the reservoir was faster (A took the same route).

Back from Ontario, I had a nice jog with Aragorn. The lack of sleep plus stress definitely is messing with my HR. Maybe I will be able to stabilize some of this over a couple of weeks.
