And after a drink of squash, I went back out alone for a bit more. Most unfortunately, I realized halfway through that I was really, really hungry. So I put more effort in to my lethargic run to get home to peanut butter and crackers. It was a mission, seriously!

Walk 50:00 [1] 2.83 mi (17:40 / mi) +10m 17:29 / mi

Trip to the main post-office foiled by a late bus and a bad plan around the superstore. Why would you put the main postal depot outside of town and not really on any bus line?!
8 AM

Road running race 21:07 [4] 3.1 mi (6:49 / mi) +6m 6:46 / mi
shoes: Saucony protread wide

Norwich Parkrun.

5k Sat. 9 am race; maybe my first one ever?
Very convenient walk to the start and then just a friendly run with 400 other willing souls. A GREAT concept, a free weekly timed run in a park and a good way of collecting stats that lets one get a weekly snapshot of their fitness level (note the similarities to AP).

Some historical details can be found at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkrun and a bit more writeup on O Joy's posting.

It is surprising that there seem to only be 3 Parkruns in the US currently. While I think that the weekly-ness of these races is probably a big appeal, it seems that well-located US Parkruns would provide a good alternative to the more expensive 5k races.

Aidan had a very good run (21:23). He was staring me down for the whole race, good thing I didn't slow down. We both think we can trim this back a bit.

Seeing some sights in Braunschweig during a visit to the TU to give a talk. Woke up later than expected, possibly unconsciously hitting the snooze button, but I did get to see Bürgerpark and a bit of the town during the morning rush.
