Still bad air so I ran on the treadmill today. I normally start slow and go up 2MPH every mile or so. This time I went up 1 MPH every 1/2 mile.

Exercise Bike 30:00 [2]
ahr:119 max:137

Bad air quality again today so it back to the basement. I didn't feel like doing the treadmill so took the easy route of doing the recumbent bike. While bike I realized that it isn't special exercise now that I have been biking outdoors more.

Treadmill (2 incline) 35:51 [3] 4.25 mi (8:26 / mi)
ahr:144 max:162 shoes: Asics Kayano 2022

Bad air quality due to smoke from Canadian wildfires. Used the treadmill in the basement. Not sure how good the air quality is in my basement but hopefully better than outdoors.

Started slow and then got faster each mile.

Orienteering (mapping) 4:52:12 [1] 6.82 mi (42:51 / mi)
ahr:81 max:130 shoes: VJ Falcons 2022

Moderate air quality from smoke originating from Canada. Decided it would still be ok for me to go mapping as long as I wasn't running. I would have run from parking to the mapping area but walked instead. Checking one long spur area with trails. Part greener than I expected so was taking me longer than I wanted. I hate wandering around in the green. It takes a lot of work with little appreciation.

The ridges did have more mappable features than I expected. Corrected the trail system.
I was surprised to see some hikers in this section as it is a further out section without easy access.
7 PM

walk (Road with Darcy) 28:48 [1] 1.33 mi (21:40 / mi)
ahr:72 max:88

Short walk with Darcy while dinner was cooking.

Summer Series Training set by Nadim. Training, primarily use contours on a map with lots of trail that were not on the map. Map was was new Lidar base map with limited field checking. This was a low key event as orienteering hasn't been allowed in this area for a number of years.
Great Weather, 60's and low humidity with a light breeze.

Nadim had pointed out that you could see where some of the trails went as there were white lines between the green where the trail would normally be. I spent a fair amount of mental energy trying to guess where the trails I was on went and when to get off them. The trails were heavily used and because we were trying to be low key I often went out of my way to avoid people which meant I kept getting off line and constantly had to relocate.

One control I never found despite relocating several times from obvious features. Some else said they did find it.

I ran hard early but was feeling a little off so slowed down when the course started climbing. Much of the woods were open which was nice. Good excuse to come out and get some exercise.
2 PM

bike 39:40 [2] 7.09 mi (5:36 / mi)
ahr:111 max:140

I had planned to go the Panera bread after the event and join everyone. But I was the first one there and they were having a festival of some sort so there was no parking. I drove through the large lot then just gave up and came home. Went for a Bike Ride with Darcy.

We did the usual, up the school, around the school and down the bike trail along 175 and back. Darcy left me way behind on the final mile where we race down the road.
