Orienteering (Red O pines.) 2:01:49 [3] *** 7.08 mi (17:12 / mi)
ahr:138 max:161 (injured) shoes: O' Icebuds 2014

My Back was still sore but felt better than yesterday. Today I felt I could run more comfortably.

I had a major issues on control #2. I thought I knew where I was but apparently pulled up short. I think I crosses a 'marsh' that wasn't mapped so I thought I was somewhere else. Based on my GPS track, I wondered around the hill side which was the wrong hill. although it was more marshy then the part of the 'mapped' marsh. I then corrected and again things didn't match up. I figured I must be too far north (when I was really south of the control) so turned south, the wrong way. Then I got to an indistinct trail. The only one close to matching up was one way south of #2. So I then navigate right to where #2 was. Only there wasn't a control there. Based on my GPS route I went right by the control. At this point I decided I had spent too much time floundering so I headed north to the road. On the way there Boris Passed me. I kept going but kept an eye on him. Eventually, we got to a control. It was #3 and not #2. So I navigated back towards #2. On the way I hit #5 which wasn't in a direct line. From there I went right back to the same area I had already been in. This time I went farther into the non-existent marsh. ultimately I don't think the boulder is mapped in the right spot relative to the hill. I think the control is farther south west than mapped. I managed to cross the large "marsh" on the map without seeing any water or telling there was a marsh ever existing there.
I then went back to three (going by #5 again) which leads me to believe the map is skewed slightly here.
After control #6, A control in the middle of nowhere hung on a non-existent feature, I decided I didn't like the map. I didn't loose any time on this control but it was annoying nonetheless.
I screwed up control 8. I lost track where I was and did a boneheaded thing. I wondered around in the wrong spot before really thinking. Then I just ran down the trail to the control.
I didn't like the map flip. I flipped over the control and could tell what was what. usually you overlap the controls some so you can keep the flow going. I turned over the map and lost a lot of time tying to figure which control # I was supposed to head for.
the rest of the course was slow but fine. I still think there may be skewed areas on the map but I was able to adjust.

With my 20+ minute mistake, I am pretty far back in the standings.

Orienteering (Red) 55:58 [2] 4.0 km (14:00 / km)
shoes: O' Icebuds 2014

I got to the event at 10:50. After walking around a little bit I was cold so I was getting a ball cap out of the car when I did something to my back. All my back muscles were spasming. I couldn't sit or stand. Here I was with 50 minutes until I start and I couldn't move. The spasming stopped after about 10 minutes as long as I didn't move. I managed to get an ibuprofen which eventually helped. With 15 minutes before my start I was able sit up with difficulty. With 10 minutes I could walk to the bathroom and was able to get my stuff. I shuffled to the start and got there about a minute before my call up. I hadn't stretched and wasn't sure I could move. Neddless to say I wasn't in the competitive mode. I was able to amble along and my muscles did loosen up. The footing was so bad that I was being very careful about where I stepped. I did twist my ankle several times even being very careful.
I made several large mistakes (mostly because I was more worried about my back then where I was going. Nonetheless, I am not unhappy with how I did given my condition. Hopefully tomorrow it will magically heal or at least allow me to run more normally.

Volleyball (indoor) 45:00 [3]
shoes: VB: Newbalance 620

Traffic was heavy so I got there late. The team won the game I didn't play 26-24. We lost the 2nd and 3rd game. The third game was close. We lost 26-24.

Soccer (indoor) 38:00 [3]
shoes: Soccer Indoor Nike 2013 Mercer

We played the same team we lost last week 7-2. This time they were missing some players and we were able to hold out own. It was 3-3 at half. Then we score one up to make it 4-3. With three minutes to go they scored to tie it up again. With 1.5 minutes, I made an awesome pass leading to the winning score. We won 5-4. I also scored one of our earlier goals. It was good night.
