Orienteering 3:20:59 [2] *** 9.85 mi (20:24 / mi) +603m 17:09 / mi

Billygoat with Luke. We started out conservatively (in terms of pace), doing a fair amount of walking to make sure Luke could make the 3+ hours, but it was me that was cramping at the end.

We were alone much of the time from our approach to C3 to the end. Some mistakes were made:
C3 - there was a group ahead of us, but they were too far left, so we aimed right, but lost sight of them and we didn't go right enough, so we hit the trail right by the stream and had to come back.
C7 - came around in the wrong reentrant and lost some time, but corrected a little ahead of Sandy and someone else.
C14 - we went to far right out of C13 and got slightly confused by hitting the stream early, so we followed it for an easy attack from the trail crossing.
C16 - running well on the trail and we took the smaller trail from the bend of the bigger trail, until it ended, then missed the control to the left and went past the other cliff to the trail before recovering up the reentrant.
C18 - took the main trail up the hill and got distracted and never noticed that we had turned east, so when we got to the second trail on the left, we thought it was the first one - even though we had been on the trail a while, we thought it was just because we were slow on the uphill. So, we started down the trail and hit some zig-zags. I noticed they seemed similar to the area around the second trail, but some stuff didn't seem to match, so we decided to run back UP to the main trail and verify - sure enough, we were right, so we ran back down and got the control without a problem. The Garmin seems to indicate we lost 9 minutes.
C20 - we angled over to the trail, but then cut back in too soon and lost some time.

We skipped C10 in order to take the northern trail from C9 to C11. Great view from one spot on the trail!

Going to C20, I thought we were going to be OVT, but then we saw it was a lot of trail running at the end, so we were 9 minutes under.

Running 27:00 [2] 3.0 mi (9:00 / mi)

Did manage to get a run in at the meet today. Training also included being on my feet almost the whole time from before 9 to 4:30. But the real run was mostly during the 200s and the race walk and a pent heat.

Note
(rest day)

Too cold to get myself running during the girls JV meet at Penfield (after I briefly stopped by for practice at Thomas). Got home and Chris had a calzone ready and I hadn't eaten lunch, so didn't want to starve.

RH3 from Ellison Wetlands. Lots of climb, but probably too late to be good Billygoat training.

(rest day)

Some running around at the track meet, but I guess not enough to log any training (didn't meet 3 mile threshold).

Fuhrman! Went for a run from Luke's coach's house after dropping him off for their indoor practice (since the weather canceled outdoors, they worked on signs and positioning, etc.). As I started out running, I realized I was near Fuhrman hill, so I decided to conquer it. After coming back down, a jogger turned on to Fuhrman behind me, so I couldn't coast too much.

Went a little past my car to get beyond the 6 mile mark.

Running 23:20 intensity: (9:32 @2) + (7:11 @3) + (6:37 @4) 3.0 mi (7:47 / mi)

FIt in a little bit of running during track practice, which was indoor at Schroeder because of the nasty weather. The main hallway loop is almost exactly 300m, so the kids did 1500T, 900I, 600R, 2x300R, 2x150F.

I did an easy 1500 in 802, then when things were winding down, I ran another 3000 in 7:11 (roughly MP) and 6:37 (roughly T pace).
