Note
(rest day)

Probably my best JK I've done, still the lingering dissatisfaction of the long race but now time to take some easy days and then to focus on BOC long.

Orienteering race 32:41 [5] 5.93 km (5:31 / km) +210m 4:41 / km

JK Trophy Relay race - 1st Leg

One bad banana in which my pack of Carcas/Baptiste Rollier and such dropped me at about half way. Main problem today was just I was really really tired. Think I was just missing them winter miles to really perform well on all 4 days. Lovely terrain however.

Running 25:00 [2] 5.0 km (5:00 / km)

Warm up with Dane and then cool down with Aidan.

Orienteering race 1:19:21 [5] 12.0 km (6:37 / km) +500m 5:28 / km

JK Long 5th

Yet again focused and calm at the start. Basically could of been one of my best long distance races ever, was really flying and nailing the nav.Caught up two min man Jan Brunner and Josh Dudley. But really messed up the long leg! Plan was to take the top route, I didn't really consider the bottom leg I think because from the geeking I did I never planned a long leg that had a control really near the bottom of the slope hence I always had it in my head I would take the top route if was a big leg across the slope. However I did not execute this route at all well even if it wasn't the fastest, I missed the crossing point I wanted so had to take a different one this change in plan threw me off. Being with the two lads I caught up it was a bit of a rush coming down the slope and I was not sure of my location and doing that in Bigland is always destined for big time loss. When I finally relocated i gave it absolutely everything to gain some time back caught back up Jan at 16 and managed to take the next few controls ahead of him but was too tired in the end to push ahead and he got me to the finish by some seconds.

Really disappointed at the finish because of being so obnoxious of the Long leg, I guess I can only learn from it and just be more careful with planning of long legs in races in the future and not rule out options without even looking at them properly.

However really happy to take SILVER for the overall JK champs.Chuffed!

Orienteering 39:59 [5] 6.0 km (6:40 / km) +200m 5:43 / km

JK Middle. 3rd (2nd Brit)

Really focused for this race. Really happy with how it went, a great feeling of satisfaction at the finish line, absolutely loved it out there, this is what orienteering is all about!

One small miss on 5 of maybe 20s and then lost another 15 seconds going to the crossing point, followed the wrong stream up. Another small time loss going to the crossing point off the fell had to climb a bit up to it. Really in control on the tricky slope and spiked everything really well.

Running 10:00 [2] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)

Cool down with Hol.

Running 35:00 [2] 4.0 km (8:45 / km) +150m 7:22 / km

Warm up.

JK Sprint 6th

Solid enough. One wrong route, very very slippy out on the concrete. felt a little out of control and count three times i was probably unsure of my position each loosing about 5-10 seconds.

Running 50:00 [2] 8.0 km (6:15 / km)

Long warm up for the sprint and then a cool down with potter.
