I did the Reach the Beach with a team from work. A fantastic experience and a great finishing position and performance for a team that included people that did not run before we signed up in early June or had just done 5K races, plus some more seasoned runners. We finished 267 out of 499 finishing teams, taking 31 hours 29 minutes and 29 seconds with an average pace of 9:23 min/mile on the 201 mile course.

All of my legs were hilly so my pace were not that stellar, especially with the first leg going straight up on of the Bretton Woods ski slope. For the teams starting with me, no one did not walk for better part of that hill. It was an average 17% incline.

I am very happy with my second leg though. That was a great pace for me over that distance with the amount of hills.

My third leg was the road through Bear Brook State park so that was an familiar area for me. I was wearing my Boulder Dash shirt to honor the occasion.

Not sure why anyone in CSU orienteering has not tried to put on a team for this. This seems to be right up the alley for many of the members, especially someone like Ian that like punishing distances, little sleep and big challenges. You can even do it as an ultra team to make it especially challenging. How about trying to beat the pace and time of this years winners. 20 hours 6 minutes and 55 seconds, resulting in an average 6:00 min/mile pace for the 201 miles.
