Running race 1:45:40 [4] 13.23 mi (7:59 / mi) +116m 7:46 / mi

It seems my problems with my back muscles and all the work around moving caught up with me today (moving things up and down stairs, 2-4 hours per night). Not that I think the back muscles played a significant role during the race, but just how it got me off my prep this past week.

I went out with the pace I would need for my target time, but I soon felt that it was too fast but kind of too late at that time. Bombed later in the race as I really struggled to keep a decent pace.

The weather was great, which was surprising due to the weather the day before. The sun actually got to be too much later in the race as it started to get hot. The course is really scenic and the weather really makes it enjoyable.

The race was still a PR by 13 seconds. The last one was at the Hollis one, last October, which is a tougher course. That one felt fantastic and was a really great race so I know I still have improved my base as I was able to beat that running a pretty horrible race.

So all in all I am pretty encouraged to keep up the running and I know I will be able to improve this and get to my target time. This might be a bad year though with everything going on with the house renovation. Things will be easier when we have that behind us.

GPS track uploaded. Forgot to turn it off, so 52 extra seconds of session data.

Running 1:05:41 [4] 8.3 mi (7:55 / mi) +54m 7:45 / mi

The problems with my muscles seems to be that they knotted and totally spasmed last week, and nothing more serious. Sarah massaged the problem back muscles Tuesday night, and that seems to have helped a lot. I have been trying to stretch them as well (though I don't really know a good one that get those back muscles effectively).

So it felt a lot better today running. The breathing is definitely a lot easier as the pain subsides, and it is mostly normal at this point. My back muscle still has a little way to go until fully back to normal, but lot of improvement these last couple of days and my hope is high that it will be totally gone by Sunday.

Started way too fast today though, just wanting to go fast, but quickly got punished for that, especially with high humidity and upper 70s. I surprised myself for the last 0.3 miles though as I totally killed that with a 7:12 min/mile pace.

Feeling slightly better today, but much of the same. I think I was able to take a little bit deeper breaths.

Not fast though, but that could have something to do with the heat as well.
