Ran the Groton Road Race today, and it was a beautiful course, though it was more up and down than expected. I was not close to my goal time, but I was not totally unhappy with the time. I had expect something better with the amount I pushed myself, but maybe I just had a tough day. As usual, I went out way too fast and I had to pay for that later on, but I felt that I was better than usual tempering myself in the beginning.
I forgot to turn off my GPS when I crossed the finish line, so it is a little bit longer than the official time. The official time was 49:02, placing me 139 out of 490. That ends up with a pace of 7:54. My personal best 10k is 48:01, but that was a lot of downhill (Run to the Rock in Plymouth).
My short term goal is 46:30, with the pace of 7:30, and this felt like a step in the right direction, but it feels like that might be a number of months off.
