Running long 1:18:46 [4] 9.8 mi (8:02 / mi) +170m 7:38 / mi
rhr:56 slept:9.0

Keeping the same pattern of running faster when I feel less motivated putting on my shoes to go out on a run. I was able to keep a good pace pretty easily and then I got motivated to try to get a time under 8 min/mile, but the hills at the end of the run were too much for me. I improved my personal record on the route with 2:35 minutes.

Trail Running 41:49 [3] 4.42 mi (9:28 / mi) +56m 9:06 / mi
rhr:52 slept:8.5

Went out to Great Brook Farm to do some trail running. My foot felt slightly better, but I am still doing only trail running and not running off-trail. Felt like I was concentrating more on how I was stepping than running. So I think I have to figure out how to tape myself for the meet next week, so I can be focused on running and orienteering.

My wife came with me as well. She has just started running and she was able to do a 5k loop in 36:30, which is fantastic. There was an orienteering aspect to it as well, since I had shown her on the map what route she should take to do a 5k and she brought the map with her to navigate her way through the park. So it turned into a line-O essentially. I am trying to get her to join me for the meet next week, as I think she would have a fun time trying out the white or yellow course.

Running intervals 23:30 [5] 3.1 mi (7:35 / mi)
rhr:52 slept:7.5

Tried something new on the tread mill where I did intervals for .5 miles rest/fast. I did two at 9.5 mph, and one at 9 mph. Rest periods at 7 mph. I was quite happy with how it went. Interesting to note that the final time was close to the same as last week.

Running 52:29 [4] 6.59 mi (7:58 / mi) +143m 7:27 / mi
rhr:52 slept:8.0

I wasn't able to go to the CSU training today, so I did my standard 6.6 miles route from my house.

This was the first time I have been able to do it under 8 minute/mile, so that was a great milestone to reach. The route is quite hilly so I am quite happy with that time.

I am doing a 10k in 2.5 weeks so this was a good test.
