I went to Hammond Pond to check out the park. I am course setting the NEOC event on April 16, so I went to all the control points that I have been planning. Most of the things looked good, except some things for the white course due to paths being unclear. The forest is very open though with very obvious features, so it will be hard to give more experienced orienteerers any challenge though.
I used my thumb compass and clue sheet holder that I got for Christmas for the first time, so that was very exciting.
Something that was less exciting was that I could still feel some pain in the foot that I turned a while ago. I don't feel anything when I run on roads, but as soon as I get into the forest and uneven ground, I can start to feel it. Apart from being uncomfortable, I do hope running in the forest will strengthen it though so it will get stronger and I will stop feeling the pain. It does not stop me from running in the forest, but it does stop me from going all out.
