M21L at Gummer's How and Blakeholme. Awesome area and course!!!

Plan was again to go out and have fun, so deliberately didn't push too hard. First bit in the green was fun and super challenging (if a bit sore on my back). Usually I am all over the place in this kind of stuff, so after a 3 minute mistake on 1, I was super pleased to make it 6 clean.

Into Blakeholme. Oh my. What a awesome area!!!! Technical and just grassy underfoot. Some of the best Orienteering I have seen in the UK... +10s on 7, +20s on 8, +60s on 11. Was thoroughly enjoying Blakeholme and approached 14 eating some Tesco imitation Jelly Babies. +60s on 15 where I confused myself, +45s on 17. Then back into the green, where I was clean again! Caught Keith at 24 and then picked what I think was the best route to 26 (around to the East on the paths). Easy enough into the finish. Thoroughly enjoyed that. A course of such contrast with so many different types of area, deserved your attention all the way around. Loved it.

In terms of mistakes, same theme as yesterday, compass mid and entering control, slow down in the circle to pick up the detail.

Middle Race around Summerhouse Knott. Aim was to have fun and enjoy some real Orienteering in world class terrain. Thoroughly enjoyed it, the course and the area. Small wobbles on: 3 (+50s), 11 (+20s), 21 (+20s), need to slow down into controls a bit and check my compass. Big wobble on 8 (+4:
45) - despite being on top of the control I could not see it for the life of me. Partially it was hidden, partially picking up more detail would have helped.

Either way, that was sooo much fun. Constant concentration required, endless direction changes and the like. Loved it. Some seriously good chocolate tiffin thing from the NWJS stall after too, mmm mmm...

Finally managed to get out after a few days of little motivation, phone calls, emails and writing. Nice sunny evening to come back down the valley in :) Eased off towards the end. I'm looking forward to a weekend of real proper Orienteering!
