Orienteering race 1:18:02 [4] 3.94 mi (19:48 / mi) +850ft 16:27 / mi
shoes: Salomon Speedcross 3 - Blue

Gov Dick Green. Thought I actually did okay, and felt pretty good. The idea was to get ready for WP, go slow, navigate well, and that worked out for the most part. The last few O races have been pretty easy, so this was difficult in comparison and I wanted to go slow and get it right.

#4 long leg, think I zigzagged a bit and it seemed to take forever to get to the trail. Up near the control there was a green runner looking befuddled, and I pretty much ignored her and did my own thing. It's usually hard for me to ignore ppl. So, good prep for WP.

#8 first to the charcoal platform (with a control) and then along hillside, I got too low and had to to readjust by looking at the cliffs which were thankfully very visible. This map - at least in most of the areas we were - has a lot of small features and a few big ones. It should be interesting to adjust to a lot more features at WP and trying to decide 1-which ones I'm actually looking at, and 2-which ones to navigate by. I welcome any suggestions.

#12 why did I go up only to go down? And then I got a little confused with the trails towards the end - I wanted to just fly down them but I couldn't b/c I kept changing my mind about how I wanted to go.

Stopped for water twice, which is unusual for me. I think unless it's really hot I really don't need to do that. But I wasn't rushing and really just trying to keep my head on straight, so I think it helped. It's also atypical for me to get slower and slower like I did this day - I usually get faster by the end. I think it was the climb that did me in. So again, good prep for WP!

Great day with family too! Good vibes all around. Looking forward to WP (and all the many variables...)

Yoga 1:15:00 [3]

Awesome awesome class. So great not having to go right back to work after a yoga class, and the extra time was nice too. Lots of warrior poses today. Felt superb afterwards.

Note

Freedom. The toenail is finally gone.

Note

Anyone want to join me for yoga tomorrow at 11am?

I'm trying a new studio in King of Prussia, but it's the teacher I like from my other studio, Kate Goodyear. She does basic vinyasa classes and is very good at describing what you're supposed to do. Had a great class with her on Thursday and I want more!

Note

Goal for West Point - try not to be in last place in my age category. It's probably going to be a pretty hard goal!

Walk/Jog 1:02:37 [3] 6.0 mi (10:26 / mi) +174ft 10:09 / mi

Forbidden Drive at lunch. Why don't I do this more often? It's 10 min away from work.

Almost - and I mean it was SO close - hit a deer on the way there on Bell's Mill Rd. The deer jumped out in front of me, and I braked hard -- the deer just narrowly avoided getting hit, it must have been inches away from my car. I am so so grateful I didn't hit it.

Said hello to Sandy's Re-entrant 2 x.

Around mile 4 I started feeling really crappy in the stomach. Don't know what's up with that. But the toenail still hangs on.
