Orienteering Meet 21:56 [5] 2.7 km (8:07 / km) +34m 7:39 / km
ahr:159 max:174

Sprint on IU campus. This was a pretty cool place to host a campus sprint. Lots of coeds around and activities everywhere. Really only botched one control #12 as I overshot an easy control because I went through the wrong opening between buildings than I thought I was at. Tied for 7th overall on the green course. Tied for first in M-60

Rogaine race 2:44:00 [5] 16.0 km (10:15 / km)
ahr:144 spiked:22/23c

South Kettle Moraine 6 hour Rogaine..One of Andy's races. using most of the same terrain that he usually uses. Maricel was my partner, better know as a ringer for this event.
There were about 30 teams or Ind. groups. Looked like the typical AR types except for Space Monkey, Linear Ice from Minn. and Nati, Marciel and me from CAOC.
The race started out with a 1.5 mile icy trail run to find some Easter egg candy, good thing others were picking up some because they were tiny jelly bean eggs and i would of been looking for much bigger eggs. Than we hit the map, only 18 control on the first one and we and a lot of others went in order of 1-18 except taking no. 2 first. The map was pretty good, but shown as all green and the white was open fields or pine plantations. We only had one problem with no 11 control where the green and the white areas were hard to figure. We saw Space Monkey early a lot as he was in the lead and we were behind him. The trails were the best nav if possible as the woods were green for the most part. Lots of scratchy brush and buckthorn ( my enemy).
The second part of the race was a line O with 5 controls. we were told that we were the first place team so we could even take our time on this part. Than we saw another team going clockwise on the Line O and hurried up the pace. The directions were to go counter clockwise.
Space Monkey broke the World Record for a 6 hour rogaine by doing in 2:15.
Ah yes and the orienteers were all over the podium as Linear Ice and Nati won the women's, (combo CAOC and MNOC,) Space Monkey won the Solo MNOC and Maricel and I won the team (CAOC).
Nice food, deserts and beer after.
I guess Andy needed to send us over to the map across the street for more O to get a longer event. Probably good that this was a shorter event.
