orienteering race 41:00 [3] 8.0 km (5:08 / km) +50m 4:58 / km
shoes: Asics Gel-1160

Nottingham Urban race.
I quite enjoyed it, but only in the same way I might enjoy one of our SSS events. I'm with Charlie, I'm not sure what the hype is about. They have now limited entry to 16 year olds and upwards, which is something we should think about.

Thrashed by Martin - still unable to drink beer :(

orienteering 22:00 [4] 3.0 km (7:20 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (#2)

Ultrasprint, Graves Park
I never really adjusted to the scale, so made mistakes in both heats (but not as bad as some - first career victory over Tim T).
Great fun racing against everyone 30 years on from first running against them - Charlie & Tim still good, Nick and I scrambling around the thick bushes and Phil enjoying a return to orienteering. Martin was the most consistent of us SPOOK oldies and made the top 6 final.

Got a bit cold between heats and final - couldn't really drink anything all day (beer wise) - possibly still short on some beer drinking tummy bugs. Took a couple of controls in wrong order in final (so Nick beat me) - the butterfly was confusing !

8/29 in B final
19/50 in Q1
13/50 in Q2

orienteering 1:53:00 [3] *** 15.0 km (7:32 / km) +250m 6:57 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (#2)

The permanent course at Venabu (Tur Orienteering).
Got 4 of 15 in just under two hours.
Its a 1:25000 map, with 10 m contours, drwn in 1986 (with some later minor revisions). Interesting !

bush walk 7:50:00 [3] 21.0 km (22:23 / km) +1100m 17:44 / km

Høgronden summit return from Dørålseter.

Tough on the final 500m - a lot of snow & ice, first amongst the loose rocks, then just deep snow up to the summit. A bit of snow on the descent and then one shower near the end, but pretty good weatherwise, considering the storms we could see below us.
