Orienteering race 1:00:18 [4] 5.0 mi (12:04 / mi)
shoes: V J Supra (2)

LOC Long Distance race, Holme Fell.
Short Brown 2 course, 6.5km, 365m.
Another 2nd behind Quentin. This is getting boring!
Fell coming out of #3 and sliced my thumb and my map. The slice almost exactly followed the red line to #5 (I took the northern option) and that (combined with the blood) made reading the map a bit difficult. No excuses there though: my main time losses were later on when I'd regained my composure. Got crag bound coming out of #10 and lost track en route to #14, rebounding off the fence to the north.
According to the splits Quentin was running faster than me anyway and I was only as close as I was because he missed #22. About 1 min down today.

Orienteering race 34:12 [4] 3.0 mi (11:24 / mi)
shoes: V J Supra (2)

LOC Middle Distance race, Tarn Hows.
Brown course, 4.1km 215m.
Typical Lake District weather rendering glasses next to useless. Luckily the map was 1:7,500 and my eyesight isn't that bad yet so just about coped. Really need to have another go at contact lenses though.
Pretty good run. Little banana into #3. Faffed a bit with fence and wall crossings to #6. Wrong way round hill to #10. Climbed too much into circle at #14 (something wrong with contours here?). Also climbed too high on way to #15. Finally got stuck in a bog going to #17. Probably could have been a couple of minutes quicker but that's being picky.
slightly disappointed to finish 35 seconds behind Quentin.

Golf with Roy. Played matchplay and i won 1 up. Good close match and came back from 1 down with 2 to play. Approx 37 Stableford points.
2 PM

Note

Walk around Storthes Hall picking up a few signs from Monday. Very little evidence of 1500 people having trashed the place just 4 days ago...

Apparently my left glut isn't working properly. She loosened it off and gave me some exercises to do.

Note

Golf with Roy. 36 Stableford points (15/21). Blob start blob finish.
5 PM

Trail running 28:00 [3] 3.0 mi (9:20 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 1080

Digley with Simon.
My R Achilles is a bit grumbly. I first noticed a slight soreness after finishing on Saturday. It was OK to start on Sunday but was noticeably worse by the time I finished. Just slightly niggly Monday. Hopefully nothing serious and an easy week should allow it to settle down.
6 PM

Gym 20:00 [2]
shoes: New Balance 1080

Garage circuits.

If you call getting up at 0530 (to see a blizzard out of window) and then on the go working at the JK Relay all day a rest day?
