(rest day)

Golf at Pyle and Kenfig. Links golf is almost a different sport compared with Meltham. It showed. Eventually gave up with the driver. Lost count of the number of four putts and OOB off the tee. 116!
Very stiff today, particularly both calfs. Walking round the golf helped but left calf still tight. Possibly another day off required.

shoes: Innov8 X-Talon

UKOL Pippingford Park. Short Brown 8.2km.
Martin started 1 min ahead of me. I tried to ignore that fact but the first few controls were so visible i had him in my sights. Then he missed no.6 and suddenly i was with him. We shared the lead from then on. A few silly mistakes at nos. 8, 9 and 10 as we watched each other rather than concentrate on our own navigation. By the end I was hanging on but happy to have been able to. Quentin 49 mins so still some way to go fitness wise. I hope I've not overdone it. Fingers crossed. ..

British Nights. Pippingford Park. M50, 7.6 km.
Went off very steadily planning to walk some of the course if any doubt about my calf. Ended up running the whole way although not at race pace.
Navigation very scrappy not helped by complete inability to read the map even when i stopped. Maybe 8 to 10 mins of errors. 15 min down on Quentin. Happy though as calf ok just general all over aching legs. Now need to sort eyesight issues.

More muddy fields. Calf OK this morning and aware that I'm unlikely to be able to run for a couple of days after another massage later, I thought I'd risk another run. All pretty good, apart from my fitness...

Another massage with Richard. Much quicker and less painful this time. Left calf much better and worked a bit on the right for insurance purposes. Got the all clear. I'l be back a couple of times pre JK for precautionary work whatever happens between now and then. Fingers crossed....

Around the (very muddy) fields behind our house. This felt like my first propper run of the year. Certainly the longest so far. Calf was fine after a few initial twinges. :-)

Calf pretty good this morning. Having a day off to let it recover before trying a bit further tomorrow.
3 x 10 (one legged) heel raises. Calf slightly painful but stronger.
