Note
(injured) (sick) (rest day)

Calf still sore, but a little less so this morning. I now also have a cold.
After a suggestion from Tim Tett yesterday, I'm now booked to see his 'magic' sports masseur on Thursday. I'll rest until then.

Mountain Bike 59:00 [2] 11.5 mi (5:08 / mi)
(injured)

Calf sore this morning, not surprisingly. Maybe not quite as bad as I thought it might be..
After standing around at Wharncliffe all morning, erecting the marquee and 'controlling' the string course I nipped out on my bike as soon as I got home. Standard Digley, Yateholme, Hades, Cartworth Moor route on new bike for first time. Very wet and windy (and largely in a hailstorm) but set a new pb (a massive 8 mins quicker than last time on this route!). The new bike must be quick. Perhaps I should enter some Trailquests... Calf sore cycling but bearable.

Orienteering 5:00 [3] 0.5 km (10:00 / km)
(injured) shoes: Innov8 Mudclaw

YHOA Junior Squad training, Wombwell Woods.
Started with 1.7km Light Green course. Walked no.1 then jogged to no.2 (no problems) then walked no.3, then jogged no.4. Calf started to hurt half way through this leg. Jogged a bit more but did more walking than jogging.
Walked the 2.3km control pick course.

Orienteering 10:00 [3] 1.0 km (10:00 / km)
(injured) shoes: Innov8 Mudclaw

Decided that I'd try running a bit further to see if the pain stabilised or got worse (with a view to possibly running through the pain). Did the first 6 controls of the route choice course. Pain gradually building up to the point where I couldn't continue.
Very frustrated! Calf appears to be no better than it was 6 weeks ago, despite trying to do all the right things. At least now I can isolate the area where the problem is: inside edge of left calf, quite low down but higher than Achilles. This area does appear slightly swollen to me. Not sure what to try next. Is it worth trying to get a scan of some sort to diagnose the problem?
Perhaps I should just stick to golf and cycling...

Cycling 5:00 [3] 1.0 mi (5:00 / mi)
(injured)

Half-hearted attempt at bike intervals. 3 x 0.33 miles but gave up after that. Struggling with the idea of this type of session.

Cycling 20:00 [2] 3.0 mi (6:40 / mi)
(injured)

There and back and recoveries.

Note
(injured)

18 holes of golf. Calf a little sore today but walking round the course seemed to help it settle. Broke 90 for first time but doesn't really count on temporary greens.
3 x 10 one-legged heel raises. Getting stronger.

Road running 3:30 [3] 0.35 mi (10:00 / mi)
(injured)

Set off to do 5 mins easy jog. Calf very slightly sore to start but OK. However it started to tighten up so stopped after 3 mins. Walk back.
9 AM

Mountain Bike 2:35:00 [2] 36.0 mi (4:18 / mi)
(injured)

Road ride on new mountain bike. Huddersfield, Buckstones, Greenfield and back over Saddleworth Moor. Last time I did this route on my road bike I was only 10 mins quicker and there was quite a stiff headwind this time all the way up to Buckstones.
I could feel my calf a little from time to time which is worrying but hopefully Kim can work some magic this afternoon with her needles!
2 PM

Note
(injured)

Another session with Kim. More massage and needles. Hit a nerve at one point which gave me intense pins and needles sensation all over my foot. Feeling different after but not necessarily better. Quite sore now but not sure how much that is a result of treatment and how much down to the attempted run followed by bike ride. Fingers crossed I'll not be limping in the morning.

3 x 10 heel raises on one leg. OK but still tiring before the end.

Test jog. This time 5 x 1 min (every 3 mins, walking between). Calf pretty good but just getting slightly tighter towards end so abandoned last rep at 30 seconds. Fingers crossed...
