Orienteering race 51:44 [4] 5.0 mi (10:21 / mi)
(injured)

UKOL Brown Clee. M45L 7.2km, 205m.
A little worried about how my Achilles would react after yesterday but it felt OK to start with and no more sore at the end than usual.
Tried to run a bit harder than I have recently and as a consequence my technique was a bit scrappy. I lost contact between 3 and 4 and lost about 2 minutes. Smaller misses at 12 and 15 cost another minute, but the total loss still couldn't account for the distance behind Quentin and Clive. 1st M45 but only 4th on the course. Not particularly satisfying.

Orienteering race 34:17 [4] 4.0 mi (8:34 / mi)
(injured)

Ludlow Urban Race. Mens Vets, 4.6km, 105m.
A bit out of practice at this kind of race (I've been avoiding tarmac to protect my Achilles) and it showed. Missed the best routes on a number of legs, particularly the long leg where contouring round to the left would have saved about 30 seconds. Made the same mistake as Martin in the castle by looking on the top of the bridge before realising it was down in the moat. Reasonably happy with 3rd, 2 mins down on Quentin and Martin.
Achilles was sore towards the end but not noticeably worse than of late. Unfortunately the usual post-race routine of stretching and ice didn't happen as it was straight to the curry house then back to the tent.

Trail running 52:00 [3] 6.0 mi (8:40 / mi)
(injured)

Hades Clough route. Achilles pretty good, just a little grumbly towards the end. Ice afterwards.

Orienteering race 38:27 [4] 4.0 mi (9:37 / mi)
(injured)

Warrior Battleaxe, Loughrigg.
All 20 controls in 38.27. Trying a bit harder than of late tonight and consequently made the odd small mistake: kept too high between no 6 and 3 and slightly missed no 5 due to not reading the descriptions. Still, another lovely evening on the fells.
Achilles was sore after 15-20 mins but eased off immediately I stopped running. Ice once I got home.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Having a good rest after a hard week last week.
Achilles is getting better slowly but I don't want to overdo it. Priority is being able to run all 6 days in Scotland. M45 should be pretty competitive and I'm looking forward to it.
3x10 heel raises. Getting stronger at these and no pain at all now.
