My left hamstring was not feeling good for most of the warm-up due to a combination of the cycling in,use of the racing flats and lack of back exercises...especially a problem yesterday

Running race 41:10 intensity: (8 @1) + (7 @2) + (20 @3) + (5:25 @4) + (35:10 @5) 10.14 km (4:04 / km) +8m 4:03 / km

This year's story...the plan was that I would follow my brother for 5 km ( @~ 20 min) then take over and try to get him to the 8 km marker under 32 then do whatever...in the back of my mind I kept thinking we needed to be at the marker in 31:30 and though I was psyched for this I doubted I could follow through based on my training (the test 5 km's were no way near fast enough...however Wednesday's practice was good so...) ..
All that said the plan changed when he noticed a 40 min bunny... which we didn't have last year...he decided to go with the bunny on the line!
He stayed with the bunny which passed under the 5km marker arch @ 19:59...my brother in tow...I was about 50 m back @20:07...At that point I just put my head down and tried to follow through with the plan...My brother looked good and felt he was going to make sub 40 so finally we would not have to run this race anymore...The left hamstring started to be bothersome @ ~7.5 km but I was able to run through it and my overall pace read 4:00 at the 8 km marker...but my time was 32:35..apparently I did not run a very good line of the course...I looked up and did not see my brother or the bunny who had always been ~50 m ahead of me so I just thought they surged and I was on my own....(Little did I know that the bunny dropped out at 7 km and my brother was paralleling my movements)I was about 4:20 for the next km and then 4:11 from the 9km marker to the finish...a few people had passed me but I guess I passed a few back because I saw them at the finish line behind me....
I looked around for my brother for about 15 minutes (as did he) but neither of us saw each other...I'd only found out later that he was 12 s ahead of me and about the rabbit..
I felt much more relaxed at 5 km this year ...so much so that I actually looked for Steve and Errol and spotted Steve in the usual spot (thanks for the pics)...but I didn't like the close quarters running of the big "40 minute" pack for the first 4km ...The Garmin autosplits were actually quite comparable to 2 years ago....the saga continues next year
7 PM

Cycling warm up/down 45:40 intensity: (1:30 @1) + (6:18 @2) + (30:35 @3) + (7:17 @4) 12.87 km (16.9 kph) +46m
ahr:130 max:145

Very chilled I went to the first aid station and got an emergency blanket...first time I ever used one...It was great and I warmed up substantially on the walk to my bike (not recorded) to change into dry clothes for the ride back...With the emergency blanket wrapped between layers of my clothes I was quite warm while heading into the gale force head winds on the way back...

18 "sticks" (line-o segments) were drawn on the map ...these needed to be "picked-up" meaning the pace was picked up while on the line.(slower recovery while off the line)..the goal was to pick up all parts of all lines and get to the finish circle at WHS in ~45 min of running
No one seemed to opt on running these in groups like last time...
Most people got further than past time
The Grant stick was changed to Rosemount on the east side of the transitway...
Alex cleared the map in 49 minutes...
