To and from Wheaton, with some food shopping on the return leg, plus dropping in on the downtown Silver Spring Pacers location to post the postcards Greg got printed up to advertise our trail race.

Orienteering race 48:43 [4] 6.6 km (7:23 / km)

QOC Wheaton Red - floundered on the first control, a rootstock that most emphatically isn't exactly where the map indicates, and, less forgivably, on the third control where I shouldn't have been fooled into thinking the person off to my left was at the control when it ought to have been clear the right pit was off to my right, according to plan. Otherwise okay though I had some major moments of uncertainty due to significant areas of unmapped deadfall/fallen trees in the eastern portion of the map inside or among which controls were well hidden. The map could definitely use a minor update to incorporate significant trail reroutes, new rootstocks and new or shifting thick vegetation. Not sure how useful a new basemap would be - will have to take a stab at assessing how serious and spatial distortions are - though the contour detail could certainly be better.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

To work and back by way of TPSS. Had forgotten it was the monthly member discount night. Should make a point of shopping on the first Tuesday of the month intentionally and not just coincidentally, I suppose.
