Pig French Park Sprint - third despite really spectacularly bad (from posted splits ~1:50 or slightly more) blowup on first control and on the order of 15 seconds lost on eighth control by not aiming off far enough right heading to the ditch through the green.

Pig Burnet Woods sprint - first in a race with easier navigation and what felt, despite only 10 more meters according to the clue sheet, like a lot more climb. Won by enough to take the day overall with some questionable route choices but no major nav errors. Silliest mistake was not going to the trail or road just uphill of 5 to head towards 6 but instead heading off directly through the woods. Not that they weren't really nice woods for the first stretch but I'm sure my route was at least 20 seconds worse. Came close to making a big parallel error on 11 after crossing the road. Headed to the left to get to the go control, not initially certain whether to go around just the first wooded area and through the second or around both of them. Ended up going around both but it looks to me as though it would have been better to have backtracked to the road west of the lake and run along it most of the way - need to be more open to seeing doglegs that make sense while running.
Note
Dan and I went to the Cincinnati Ballet performance downtown in the evening - three pleasant enough pieces, two by the artistic director and one by Balanchine, then a quite good reconstruction of a piece by Leonide Massine, a flat-out terrific piece to music by Shostakovich based on two ethnically divided lovers in Sarajevo during the Balkan conflicts, and a better than feared/actually quite good premiere to Bolero by the artistic director.
