Event: QOC Jug Bay

11 AM

Orienteering 59:26 [3] 2.66 mi (22:21 / mi) +16m 21:56 / mi

Walked the Brown course at QOC's final meet of the season -- at Jug Bay. I'm just trying to figure out what my limits are. My heart rate peaked at 120 (while climbing out of one of the steep ravines), and I never had any palpitations. So, 120 + beta blocker = okay. I want to get off of the beta blocker, so I'll see what I can do on it, then get off of it and see if I can still do the same levels.

Other than the medical stuff, it was fun today. I messed up #1 and #2 just a bit, with suboptimal routes, but after that it went fine. And I even managed to snag third place. The party afterwards was also fun. So many people, including guest appearances by Brooke Mann and Boris Granovskiy.

Note

I am home! I'm on a low dose beta-blocker for now to help my heart deal with the errant extra heartbeats. I'll also be on a 14-day remote monitoring program so my doctor can see what my heart is doing. The cardiologist said this is more of a nuisance than something more serious. So, I'll pay attention to things that might trigger it and avoid them. However, he started that list with the following possibilities: caffeine, alcohol, exercise. Yuck!

Thanks to you all for your kind words and support! This is one of most pleasant aspects of Attackpoint -- the community.
