Orienteering 50:18 [3] 4.34 km (11:35 / km) +89m 10:30 / km

A very, very fun course with very, very poor execution. Blah.

RMOF Day 2. One Cowgirl Relay 6.6 km

This was a lot of fun, as usual. We had a little scare before the meet began due to I-80 closing down for an accident. At first the police were estimating it would be closed for 2 hours (!), but then they opened it up to the Summit exit, which is all we needed. We ended up pushing the start back by 30 minutes.

I did fine on this course, mostly walking again. No navigational issues. The sun is getting to me, and I start to feel woozy. The last loop almost did me in, but I managed to finish.

RMOF Day 1. Classic course 7.7 km

My plan was just to walk this course in order to get used to these maps again and to adjust to the altitude. I pretty much succeeded in that, but I did run down some hills. ;-)

I felt fine, for the most part. I got a little too hot on the way to #7 and was feeling woozy. Bob Huebner gave me some water and that was good. And then there was water at #10, which helped a lot. Luckily, there was absolutely no troubles with my navigation.

I attended my first Squirrel Kill/Squirrelnado race! This has traditionally been the final event in QOC's Summer Sprint Series. I couldn't make it last year, but this year I did, and it was so much fun. Ted Good organizes it with the help of his wife, Darcy. I think each year it's a little different, but always pretty involved.

This year he had 11 different courses in 9 different parks. You can choose how many courses you want to do, the order you want to do them in, whether you want to do them on foot or on bike, how many controls you want to do on each course, etc. And Ted has rules and scoring for each of the scenarios. Plus a few other non-orienteering activities for points (a dolley race, building a boat, and taking an orienteering quiz).

Evidently the attendance this year was lower than last year, but we still had about 15 or so finish some permutation of the courses. And I ended up coming in 2nd, much to my shock. It was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
