Running 1:03:24 [3]

This was a regular trail run at Happy Jack. I ran down the Crow Creek drainage (which was very wet, muddy, cowey, and buggy!), up the Crow Creek trail to Headquarters Trail and back to the car. Why does one loop around Wash Park feel so horrible, but I can run out on the trails for an hour and still feel great?!??

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

I went on the Tour de Laramie with Mikell, checking out the construction sites around town, hitting the Post Office, and stopping by Big Hollow Food Coop for some dinner supplies. It sprinkled on us during part of the ride, but nothing too bad. And we saw a very cool beehive!

Orienteering 1:09:32 [3] 5.38 km (12:56 / km) +118m 11:39 / km

I ran part of an old course at Pelican Bay. Used it as a map reading training, so went out without a compass. It was a good session, moving at a good speed. Saw lots of wildflowers, elk, and deer.

Orienteering 1:17:34 intensity: (40:00 @2) + (37:34 @3) 5.07 km (15:17 / km) +82m 14:09 / km

The second training session was at Diamond Bay, as Mikell was hanging streamers for one of the Daze. This session started out well...another map reading exercise, but halfway through I started to feel lightheaded and weak. So, I bailed out to a trail and just jogged back. Not sure what that was about, maybe low blood sugar. I got home and ate a pluot and felt better.

Note

We headed up to Laramie Range for some flagging and orienteering, but never made it out of the truck. On our way, it started to rain and hail, so we thought we could wait it out, but it just never stopped, so we drove to Antenna Hill for a short walk with Annie. During our wait, we were entertained by a herd of cows that were mooing to a baby cow that had somehow gotten on the wrong side of the fence. It finally figured out a way to make it back across the cattle gate, which was a good thing because shortly after, Momma Cow came back, yelling at the baby. She was NOT happy.

Mt. Biking 1:29:28 [3] 17.65 mi (11.8 mph) +140m

I went on my inaugural mt. bike ride for this year. It was pretty easy, through Chatfield, up Waterton Canyon, and back. The part through Chatfield was supposed to be on the single track trails near the river, and I did start on them, until I realized that the amount of poison ivy along the trails was astronomical. And, since I got a pretty bad dose of PI at Rainbow Falls, I got off those trails ASAP. The rest of the ride was done on dirt roads...so, pseudo-mt. biking.

I headed straight home after the ride, and scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed! Praying that I got rid of all of the oil.
