Ran the trails at Happy Jack. It was alot of fun because I ran the same trails that I had skiied on in the winter. Not all of the ski trails are bona fide hiking/biking trails in the summer, so it was a little on trail/off trail. And, of course, a little up, a little down.
My chest cold was still a bit bothersome, but the running seems to help get the gunk out...always a good thing.
I forgot to include something in my wildlife encounters yesterday...hearing the howl of a coyote. Another first and very cool.
I just went out for an easy terrain run on Plutonic Pleasures. Went to a few control sites from an old Green course. Wildlife sightings = my first moose ever! I ran across a mama moose and her baby...it was very cool. I also started a cattle stampede, which was fine until they started coming after me! Then I had to high tail it out of there. My chest cold is still lingering, and combined with the altitude, it was a bit rough on the breathing. And breathing is kind of a crucial thing. Hopefully the dry air will help in the next few days.
At Nags Head, NC, on a mini-vacation with my family. Arrived on Sunday with a bit of a scratchy throat, and as of today, I have a full-blown chest cold that might include strep. I attempted a little run today to see how that felt, but the coughing spasms quickly turned it into a fast walk. At least it was a pretty outing, walking along the beach.
