Orienteering race (Corn maze Classic) 16:09 [4]
shoes: Integrators

Shoe sucking mud, swamps, and lakes! The legend of Mike's maze grows.

No Zen for me today. Never managed to achieve much focus out there, many mistakes.

Biggest goof was in the Night-O. During map B managed to unintentionally miss a control, and I didn't realize until 2 or 3 controls later. Decided I couldn't rely on a secret bonus skip, so went back and repeated several legs. Fortunately that turned out to be the correct thing to do.

But again, great fun. And it looks like I'll never forget this event. I didn't change before driving home, and now my car's driver seat is no longer the same color it used to be.

Other precious moments. (1) When, before leaving for Wolfies, the commissioner announced that none shall reveal to a certain someone about the mud. (2) When that certain someone walked into Wolfies, and was met with a loud friendly cheer of "Phil!". (3) And that apparently the commissioners directive was honored... tee hee.

Orienteering race (Ward Pound Ridge) 1:09:31 [4] 5.7 km (12:12 / km)
shoes: Integrators

Really nice day, warm, sunny, but not too hot or humid.

Had a pretty clean shuffle going until the approach to 9. Followed the trail to the bend, over the knoll (hmm, rather greener than mapped), past the small lake (hmm, looks more like a marsh), and up the other side to the control, hey I can see it from here. Punch, and check the code, and that's strange it's off by one number. Wow, the organizers must have printed the codes wrong, I wonder if I should report it, er, um, wait a second ... I appear to be standing at my #6 ... oh crap, oh crap ,crap, crap. Dang.

So threw away 5 minutes on a easy easy leg. Fortunately for me that just means finishing 20 minutes behind instead of 15. No biggie. Besides I still finished ahead of Clint, and Phil, so giggles.

Fun day. Legs/body suitably trashed. Now need to recover by Monday eve for the corn.

Jogging race (Holyoke 5K) 27:17 [4] 5.0 km (5:27 / km)
shoes: Pro Grid 7

Fresh cool early fall air, oh the joy!
Add a rare good legs day to boot.
So all in all a really enjoyable "run".
And I haven't felt that way for at least a year. Only down side is it might have come two days early...
