Made up for this morning a bit by winning this by 31 seconds (small consolation I suppose!!)

Urban Orienteering - Bristol Uni Halls and Stoke Bishop

Good fun course

started ok, if slow then was very scrappy through 8 to 12, struggled to see things on map, misread descriptions, went to wrong side of walls, almost ran off from 8 towards 13 etc. etc.

Ok through long legs, although a couple of hesitations/poor route choices, overshooting

Then virtually walking through last 3 as taking time to work out control order!!

Felt very slow and sluggish so still lots of work to do to see if I can ever get speed back!!

Looking at splits, when I was getting it right my speed was actually ok, so maybe not as bad as I thought.... just need to get used to wearing the glasses as I think this didn't help and I missed a few bits on map

Highmeadow Wood - Blue Course

Changed down form Brown, which I think was a wise choice, although my ankles seemed a lot better today.

Lovely woods, albeit steep in places and a very well planned course.

Got a bit carried away with being able to run pretty freely that made a few silly mistakes

No. 1 - stopped too short when got to re-entrant and went to crag higher up - 30 seconds

No. 6 - hit a guly thinking it was just beyond control - turned right as planned but turned out ot was gully further east that seems to start higher up spur than mapped - ended up far too low - 2 mins

No. 8 - must have passed straight passed control without seeing it - missed veg boundary (and was looking for it) so ended up again far too low on spur - 2 mins

8-9 stayed far too high and started drifting south rather than down into valley - 1 min

14 - just wasn't sure of map/hills/crags in this area - overshot - 1 min

15 - ran out of 14 in totlly wrong direction!!! before correcting - 1 min

16 - a little low - 30 secs

8 mins lost in total!!! 1 minute down on 1st and 2nd

Happy to be running relatively pain free and I got all the correct controls so relatively content - just need to concentrate!!
