Fairly boring day - streets from Asda. Too tired for this but want to save the proper rest day for tomorrow as otherwise will be a long streak.

Coast path from Manorbier to Tenby. A bit of a late decision - looking for places to explore that I could do by train that weren't way too expensive and noticed that the Saturday trains to Pembroke are now back for the summer post-covid. Still a hell of a lot slower than driving, and more expensive, but will be a bit more marginal if I get the full compensation due for yet another 30 minute delay coming home...

A bit optimistic trying this after a biggish day out yesterday, and struggled a bit uphill as usual and when it was hot. Some of the ups were pretty sharp but worth doing the route for the views in cloudless skies.

Train out was about 10 minutes late which squeezed time a bit so was stressing about getting to Tenby in time to buy lunch and make the train back. Took the shorter alternative route avoiding the rifle range on last headland but in hindsight probably should have just stayed up. Beach was mostly ok but the last 400m really wasn't. Had about 10 minutes to spare by the time I got to the station.

First free day since the Swan Line trains came back (and they ran on time! less said about Cardiff-Newport the better...) - and sunny so could go ahead with the longish day out in the Neath valley and tick off southern part of canal and do the last bit to fill in my heatmap from Brecon Beacons down to coast path at Briton Ferry.

Reasonably nice, with lots of wildlife out on the canal in the sun. Longer than expected though - right at the top end of my estimate for distance, and struggling with the climb early on, sweating a lot. Much better rhythm along the canal itself and kms 6-11 all felt remarkably easy. Lots of gates, some stiff, after that lost the momentum and with heat the cumulative tiredness got me so was glad to get to the end.

Coping with the distance and heat much better than I expected.

Orienteering - Urban 52:40 [4] 9.83 km (5:21 / km) +170m 4:56 / km
slept:4.0 (sick) shoes: Adidas Adizero SL

Dursley urban. 6.7km long course.

Expecting to struggle a lot after a busy few days running (plus working in office from 7am-4.30 with only 18 minutes break, and 8.5 hrs of phone calls), and it being warm. Did struggle, but only as much as is usual now. Being left behind on climbs when passed by Hanlin and Rob, but broadly holding pace when flat.

Course long with a few mean legs, but kindly planned to allow lots of prep on the longer legs - so sorted routes as far as 12 before even getting to 1. Well prepared for the trick at 19 and the key decision leg 23. So orienteering well, but today’s course was a bit clearer than the last few.

Paul was grumbling about the map being total rubbish but I thought it was ok except for the extra car park on the way to 20!

Fairly happy with time. Let’s say around 30s loss for mistakes and hesitation (which side of stream to get to 15); probably around 3:30 for pace, so old me might have been around 48 minutes.

MDC Doward on the way back home.

Successfully found all the best bits. Glad the group wasn't too fast but still suspect I will be feeling tired tomorrow.

Hartlebury common and Stourport to make overlapping the heatmap easier. Another hot day. Tired from yesterday still and further and more hill than I wanted so it was hard work, especially into the wind. Apart from being tired, reasonably nice run with some big parks I didn’t know about.
