1 PM

Walk (Danny virtual trail-plus) 4:10:00 [1] 11.85 mi (21:06 / mi) +465m 18:48 / mi
ahr:82

Reprise of the Hurstpierpoint VT via Danny in November. Only this time with the addition of Wolstonbury and West Hills, which added over 5 miles and a few hundred feet of climb. Glorious day, if windy atop.

5 PM

Note

Walk (4.25 miles). C/W.

11 AM

Walk (Chelwood virtual trail) 2:45:00 [1] 8.6 mi (19:11 / mi) +375m 16:54 / mi
ahr:94

Trail 'runs' resume. First to a heavenly Ashdown Forest on a perfect spring day for a bit of a monster, called Chelwood or Nutley. Tricky nav on open heath, but biggest problem was flooding round the location for control 4 which forced me to retreat and use the road. Fine thereafter. Bit of a drive but good to have a change of scene.
3 PM

Walk (Cowfold virtual trail) 1:59:00 [1] 6.0 mi (19:50 / mi) +155m 18:22 / mi
ahr:87

Almost a year since the last time, and following a sandwich, I repeated the Cowfold trail as it was a bit of a favourite. Lots of woodland so LOTS and LOTS of bluebells. Carpets of them. Tonic for the soul.

Note

Walk (5 miles @ 16.43 pace). A/C.

11 AM

Cycling (Portsea Turf) 6:15:00 [2] 50.0 mi (7:30 / mi) +140m 7:26 / mi
ahr:105

Cycled to Portsea Island via Havant and collected (almost all of) the rest of the Turf zones, 40 in total (although 2 were fenced off and one was in the middle of canoe lake). It leaves 2 that I missed (it's complicated!) and 4 more near Mountbattten. Southsea makes the whole of Sussex look frumpy, but also saw the seamier side round Landport and Kingston. Rain wasn't in the forecast, but I spent a fair bit of time sheltering from it under archways and bus stops. Then cycled back home. Bit different.

Monday Apr 18 #

2 PM

Note

Walk (5 miles-plus). Summersdale and Graylingwell lap, with detours to the uni campus and Oaklands Park to check potential control sites.
