Joined Lu and Catherine at Westminster Bridge for the final leg of her Long Run Home. Battled first the crowds and then the heat. The 35 mins spent not moving were us trying to find shops that would sell coke, lucozade, water, energy snacks, anything, to get over the line. Had discomfort in most joints and especially left shoulder throughout, but it might have been a psychological reaction to the two nightmare train journeys I had to undergo getting to London and back. Or the staggering heat, which became a serious issue after Tower Bridge. So proud to be a part of Lu's well-chosen and successful challenge. One to remember for ever.

Inset Day. But what's going on with the weather? Had brought enough water for a heatwave and it was almost untouched. Didn't mind the drizzle in the event but the long wet grass was unwelcome. Drove back up the A34, parked the far side of the bridge in (a delightful) Wallingford, then got a bus to Abingdon in the rain. Met Lu at that bridge, where she was already 9 miles in, then ran or walked through Culham, Wittenham, Burcot and Shillingford. Although all we saw was fields, cows and the eternal river. Ice cream and coffee then last 2k back to car to get changed for long drive home. No back problems at all running, but it was a nice comfortable pace.
