Newest FRL race. Had heard good reports. Felt absolutely marvellous when I got shorts and shoes on in the car park, but a few minutes into warm up something wasn't right. Lower back/hips weren't uncomfortable but felt odd and were contributing to fatigue. This was just a step up from parkrun 3 miles for me though, and definitely a fun run, so I'd see what happened. It was disheartening having so many run away from me on the first hill, but I tried to use what I'd learnt at Oaklands and settle. Enjoyed the steady downhill after mile 1 to Chesworth Fm and was actually reasonably pleased with the pace. Dropped a few places coming back up but found things to be optimistic about when I concentrated on breathing rather than legs. Even with the disappointing current form I could still see why I loved doing this. Need to think like a beginner again and recapture all the enthusiasm. Conditions were very muddy and new shoes struggled in parts.
