Walk (Fulking Escarpment) 3:30:00 [1] 10.0 km (21:00 / km) +350m 17:52 / km

Dog walk with Jan on the 'view' from Devils Dyke. From Fulking to Edburton along the bottom of the scarp, then up and over Edburton Hill and along the SDW to Devils Dyke, back down to the bottom then round the hill before climbing to the top once more ahead of the final descent. Hilariously muddy and overcast.

Note

More stiff and sore than usual in the morning (although the start of the birthday/xmas celebrations may be partly to blame). Certainly couldn't run today. Will try and walk off the worst later on.

Orienteering (Coates Common) 3:30:00 [1] 5.0 km (42:00 / km)

Checked about 20 potential blue course control sites and had a good look for and at plenty of other mapped features. A gentle wander probably the best thing I could do for my poor legs.

Trail run (Three Forts Half route) 1:49:30 [4] 21.0 km (5:13 / km) +475m 4:41 / km
weight:70kg

Set off with Lu and a great deal of trepidation on the longest run yet, an abbreviated 3 Forts half. This felt pivotal as back/hips have been very bad all week. Took one ibuprofen. Soon as I started running I felt alright, not perfect but ok. Had to wait for Lu a couple of times but when we got below Chanctonbury it took us a few seconds to decide on the 2+ extra miles over the hill. Had worried about the jarring descent to Pest House but it was ok. We both powered up the last hill and almost raced the last two downhill miles on the hugely improved path. Such a relief to finish that feeling I could have done more. The almost 2 hours just flew by.
