Pub walk with Jan from WD via Monarchs Way to Stoughton and Walderton, then back through Kingley Vale and Binderton. Left calf, hammy and hip all quite tight to begin but easing up as the walk went on. Appreciated the ups and downs. Good day for it too: lambs, primroses and views of the Isle of Wight. Summer's almost come. It's years since I was on Bow Hill.

From Eartham car park along Stane Street, then up to Burton Down and Bignor Hill, down and up to the Denture, over Great Down and Little Down to Slindon, then round Nore Hill to car park. Wanted this to be easy, and it mostly was, but it became clear that left calf is weakest link. It niggled throughout and might have been worse on an even surface (it was much muddier than I thought it would be). Need to keep stretching and stressing it, without over-stressing. Apart from the cold, and even sleet, nice little recovery run which gave me a chance to take stock with seven weeks to go. Corporate Challenge II next up. Would like a good one as have written off round 3.
